Could this team NOT really suck alligator balls?

Maybe it's that the Red Sox suck even bigger alligator balls?

Let's not forget the first two games against the ChiSox...

Still, I have to say I am giddy like a schoolgirl that we started the season 4-2. Can't wait to go catch another game when they come back from the West Coast.

these guys are gritty....i'll say that, not sure what to expect from the rest of the season yet...but a 4-2 start is better than anything I expected

will be interesting to see how this 6 game west coast swing goes....good thing is they don't have to face King Felix in Seattle

I'll just try to remember this series and this game when the tough times rear their ugly heads again ahead...and they will.

That said, we really are seeing an anti-wedge philosophy with this team. Does anybody think Wedge would have the balls to call that play? Or the wit to manufactor that run like they did in the 8th inning? Hell no. Working at bats instead at hacking at everything within a foot of the strikezone? Playing sound defense? A decent bullpen?

Also, this team is fielding well, working counts and scrapping out ways to get on base/win games. Acta is a sabermetrician and that is just what a team built like this needs. I'm not harboring any delusions of a division title, or a postseason run, or anything like that...but, there's enough here to be athorn in a lot of teams sides this season. If, if, Carmona can find a balance between today and his opening day gorilla fisting and Carrasco can bounce back...if, if, the back end of the rotation can piece together the occasional quality start, if the bullpen can remain solid, if they continue to play solid defense, if they continue to be smart with the bat...this team could scrap and claw to a .500 record. Not saying it's gonna happen, but I'm optimistic that there's a possibility that they could eek out a 2004-type season setting up bigger things in 2012-13. This has been the plan since summer-'08, and so far it's coming together...even if the season is very young.

There will definitely be valleys ahead...as you would expect with a young team, but to see them fighting like they have the first week of the season is very encouraging given what we've been subjected to the past three summers. If Pronk keeps hitting and Grady can come back and at least be 75% of his old self, this team might not be too bad...and definitely fun to watch.

I've been a diehard Tribe fan for 25 years...good times and bad, so it's nice to see a plan appear to be coming together. Hopefully it continues.

Back in the 90s you could sell out the Jake and that would pay for an all star player at every position. That's not the case anymore, with today's salaries.
Folks can't get excited seeing, what amounts to a good triple A team. :(

Once again, shows daaaaaafuck do I know:biggrin:
