Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

You know what a real championship caliber team does? When a group is struggling, one individual or group of individuals (bullpen for example) steps up.

This team is the exact opposite. The team as a whole does well enough to win, but one group steps up to blow it. If it isn't the offense sucking, it's the defense. If the defense and offense are doing well enough to win, the bullpen blows it.

I know this team is young and all, but damn that's disheartening.

took at 2-0 lead and promptly gave it up...story of this team

2-2 mid 2nd
Story of the last two months has been that all the late game rallies we enjoyed in April-May have been flipped over on us. Given the good starting pitching, limp-dick offense, and crumbling bullpen...I suspect it will continue.

Like I said, I don't harbor any post season delusions. This is a bad baseball team right now. But there are areas and guys to build around. Work on some fundementals and defense next spring, hopefully add a bat or two this offseason and they should be a pretty solid team next year.

As good as Kipnis is at the plate, his defense is pretty weak. I'll take it though...kid is really tough on opposing pitchers.
That's why it took him as long as it did to get to Cleveland...his defense. I'm sure they'll work on it hard this winter/next spring.
