It's dusty down here in Cincinnati.

Nolan Jones ain't it, can't hit a fastball then what are you doing here?
Brennan is the same old AAA OF.
Noel is a nice pinch hit bat to have but he has been God awful this year, -0.7 WAR.

CJ Kayfus has been getting some time in RF and his bat is insanely hot all year, hitting .367 and a .458 OBP. Call him up, put him in RF every day, put Angel Martinez in CF every day at least until Lane is back.

Hated the Naylor trade……team culture isn’t as strong. Definitely going to take a lot more to even make playoffs this year.

CLE sports GM management has been pretty shitty last few years. Pieces are there but just seems like they don’t have the foresight to get these teams to a true championship level.

I think the Guardindians peaked against the Yankees in the playoffs…they aren’t going to spend to make it further than that, so I get the sense this team is a pullback. If it’s not…they did a really shitty job of roster refocusing afterwards.

Yea they are looking like they are starting to fade fast right now. Lost 5 in a row and 3-7 in the last 10.

The bullpen who carried the team pretty much last year was historic, it was unrealistic to expect that again and yea....it's not holding up, they've hit a nice downturn and the starting pitching and offense are not capable enough to pick up the slack.

2024 bullpen ERA 2.57 (by far #1 in the MLB, 2nd was 3.11)

Current 2025 bullpen ERA 4.06

WHIP has increased from 1.05 to 1.40

National handwringing over Guards dumping Naylor for Santana not appearing to age well. Similar to last year in Cleveland, Knucklehead got off to a hot start in Arizona but has quickly fallen off. Santana currently sporting a 0.8 WAR vs 0.4 for Naylor. I understood the Gimenez trade but hated it just for the fact that I enjoyed watching him play baseball. Naylor on the other hand was one I was happy to see go, the baserunning blunders, defensive gaffes and offensive inconsistency along with some of his antics were maddening.

The starting rotation is meh and the bullpen has sunk to below average

Even if the offense found some fire it's still a big uphill battle right now.

Rotation has really picked it up lately, they've actually been pretty fire the last 15+ games. I think their ERA is below 2.50 in that stretch.

I just hated some of the bullpen decisions....to start the season with McKenzie and Cantillo in the pen made no sense. Two starters...I get McKenzie, squeeze what you can out of him, but why Joey? I'm still not too worried about the pen knowing that we have Trevor Stephan back hopefully before the ASB, Andrew Walters who 100% should be up again, and guys like Nic Enright and Franco Aleman who just came back from injuries. Clase also seems to have settled back down.

@billmac91 - I disagree on Cleveland GMs. Koby Altman has done a great job, and so has the Guardians FO. They routinely make the most out of very limited assets and balance short and long term quite well.

The only thing I wish is they'd be more aggressive with their positional talent....Nolan Jones, Will Brennan, Noel, etc. are not MLB OFs. Get CJ Kayfus up here, be aggressive with Chase DeLauter when he's back, stop dinking around with these AAAA OF's.

You can question some of the decisions they made in the bullpen, that's fair. But in the end for the most part everyone who returned has taken quite a step back, Gaddis is the only one who's maintained form so far.

Paul Sewald was a bad signing, he was awful before getting hurt and it's not shocking, he was not good with Arizona last year and he's aging.
