Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Turns out the Cavs are gonna just destroy the Pistons anyways!

Defense has been better than expected so far this season, but without Garland and Mitchell it was even better. Ton of length and athleticism tonight. Switched everything and made it tough for the Pistons. That being said I hope they don't have to play too many games this season without Garland, Mitchell, and Rubio. I really hope Love has as much fun with his 6th man roll as I have watching him. He's the glue that makes the second unit deadly.

Was watching one of the other games tonight, can’t remember which, but they said Love is leading the league in charges taken too. Dude is playing great.

They interviewed him before the game about that. IIRC he said he tied for the lead last year and didn't even start trying to take charges until December. He was 2 rebounds short of a triple double last night and only played 23 minutes.

I don’t watch any Lakers, so I don’t know what he’s like game to game anymore…but today, it wasn’t quite Unitas/Chargers or Shaq/Cavs bad, but it was pretty bad.

The Lakers are giving a bunch of minutes to a guy driving Doordash a couple years ago. That team is wrecked for the next decade after the moves they made to put together Lebron, Davis, and Westbrook. For some reason they just added a couple years to Lebron's contract that nobody is going to trade for. I'd love to have Lebron at the starting 3 with this Cavs team at the MLE, but not 50M a year. Even at 37 he would be fine if he was playing 25-30 minutes a game similar to how Love has looked great playing 20-25 minutes. You would think at his age and the money he has in the bank he would have prioritized winning another championship or two on a good team rather than being the highest paid player on a shitty team. There is a big difference in effort when you are playing for a garbage team that is playing for a lottery pick that someone else is going to get and a team that has a chance to win a title.

As far as the Cavs go I don't stress about the score until the 4th quarter. They seem to start slow in most of the games then pick up as the game goes on. With Garland and Mitchell there is a pretty good chance at least one of them is going to have a good game any given day and the one game Mitchell didn't really have it Allen and Mobley picked up the slack. This team is fun to watch.
