Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

The Cavs are doing a buyout of Drummund ?!?!?!? giving him away vs getting anything in return?? WTF
@exhawg you used to be our Cavs GM... what are you doing about this travesty

Sorry I don't pay attention as much anymore. Kind of stupid GMing when you let everyone know if you can't trade him you are going to buy him out. The Lakers and Nets probably feel pretty good about their chances of signing him and nobody wanted to pick up the tax bill with a trade. I guess it's addition by subtraction if he isn't in your future plans. It isn't like the Cavs are going anywhere this season. The Cavs have had a bunch of head scratches since Lebron left for the second time starting with giving Love a max deal.

Cleveland Cavaliers still view Kevin Love as valuable piece amid slow rebuild

As the Cavaliers' slow, stuttering rebuild continues around a "core four" of young players, the team still views Kevin Love as an important piece.

One worth keeping around. At least, for now.

On Friday, general manager Koby Altman spoke to the media for the first time since the Cavs completed a injury-marred season by going 22-50 and failing to compete for a playoff spot during a year in which Love went from being a major contributor to a distraction.

Kevin Love signed a 4 year / $120,402,172 contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, including $120,402,172 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $30,100,543.

Just sayin': That's just because they can't unload him with his current contract. I'm betting that in 2023 when he becomes an UFA he will instantly be an unimportant piece of their rebuild.

Cavs land the #3 pick in the 2021 draft.

Probably should pick Jalen Green. I see people speculating that they should trade Sexton, but I don't like that idea. Sexton, while ball-dominant, is a great player, gives good effort & is probably the best player on this team. I doubt any other team is gonna give Cleveland the kind of draft pick that would make it worthwhile to trade him. Let's be honest, the Cavs aren't a contender in the NBA no matter what moves they make right now. Might as well at least try to be more competitive.

Cleveland Cavaliers agree to 5-year, $100 million deal with center Jarrett Allen

Restricted free agent center Jarrett Allen has agreed to a five-year, $100 million contract to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his agents Derrick Powell and Jim Tanner told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
.
.
.
He became the team's unquestioned starting center and is seen as part of what the Cavaliers hope is the core of their next playoff team alongside prior lottery picks Collin Sexton, Darius Garland and Isaac Okoro -- not to mention fellow big man Evan Mobley, whom Cleveland took third overall in last month's NBA draft.
