Every human on planet Earth outside of the Bay Area should be pulling for the Cavs. This is the team that won a record number of games, lost a series they should've won in five, and decided they needed the second best player in the world because it was still too hard. I'm honestly didn't know it was possible for me to hate a professional sports team as much as I hate the Warriors. Curry is cocky, Durant sabotaged his own legacy, and Green is one of the dirtiest players in the NBA. There's very little to like.
The worst part is if Chris Paul hadn't gotten hurt, or the Rockets made even 25% of their threes in game seven, Golden State's probably going home. If LeBron leaves next year, I hope it's for the Rockets. If they can keep their core (dumping Ryan Anderson should free up enough space), adding LeBron would be enough to knock the shit out of the Warriors. I'm not sure any of his other options could beat Golden State. Not even the Lakers/Clippers with George and Kawhi. Boston's probably winning the East if they stay healthy, so Philly wouldn't be enough. LeBron replacing Jaylen Brown as the fifth starter in Boston could be interesting, but I think he has too much bad blood with that city/team to go there. Not sure Ainge would want to piss Kyrie off, either.
As far as the series in front of us, yikes. I like Golden State in five. I think the Cavs have to play as physically as possible (bumping, swatting, bodying) from the opening tip to set the tone. We know the Warriors are going to get away with hacking LeBron anytime he gets within 12 feet of the basket, so the Cavs have to return the favor. I'm not sure what the strategy is outside of that. Ty Lue will probably try to race to 120 points again, but we know that won't work without Irving. Caveman ball is probably your best bet for close games, but you're still losing that way. GS is too good in the half-court to lose, but I'd probably try it anyway. Get out in transition when possible and try to win 87-85 every night.
This is going to be about as much fun as OSU's natty loss to UF.
