Cleveland Browns (official thread of Masochism 2015)

Have to hand it to Farmer, both he and Pettine felt that McCown could be an effective QB behind a decent Oline. Their faith in the old man has put us in positions to win the past few weeks.

If only the defense (particularly the ends and backers)would play with more consistency, we could field a very respectable team.

That said, I BEGGED to see more 1gap looks and Shelton sure as shit took advantage of them. Like any rookie, can be inconsistent. But he's shown flashes of dominance in every game.

Shelton indeed has shown flashes of being the real deal.

Well done to the Browns for a very un-Browns-like performance!

McCown apparently eclipsed a Brian Sipe game from 1981 (444) in setting the regular-season record. I thought Bernie had that against Pittspuke in '86 but apparently not (414.) In any event, well done to him for doing what the likes of Eric Zeier, the aforementioned Spurgeon Wynn, Luke McCown, Bruce Gradkowski, Todd Philcox, Jeff Garcia (on days when he wasn't "crisp"), and all the other greats who have helmed this team over the past 30 years couldn't do!

AKAK is back in his shelter.

It's 11:59 on Radio Free America; this is Uncle Sam, with music, and the truth until dawn. Right now I've got a few words for some of our brothers and sisters in the occupied zone: "the chair is against the wall, the chair is against the wall", "john has a long mustache, john has a long mustache". It's twelve o'clock, American, another day closer to victory. And for all of you out there, on, or behind the line, this is your song.

At least McCown figured out if he's going to throw the ball up for grabs off his back foot aim at the TE instead of a slot dot. IMO they really need to break out the NE multi wide TE look in the red zone since those are the only guys they have with size that have a shot against one-on-one coverage on a short field. Honestly if I'm the Browns I cut Bowe today and find the highest ceiling >6'1" WR I can get. That transition might also give them a shot to dress Bibbs to see what he can do at TE. I personally would bring Pryor back since I don't think it's possible for him to do less on Sunday than Bowe.

I think shit face Modell must have given the Referees Association a ton of money before he bit the big one. A couple of the calls against the Browns yesterday were BS. Shelton flips a ball at a RatBird and gets called for unsportsmanlike conduct and Williams gets called for a personal foul for hitting a WR who just missed catching a ball (Braxton Miller was hit harder by a guy from Maryland Saturday afternoon and there was no penalty). There were a couple of other calls that I thought were pretty suspicious.

Saying that, I love Coons kicking FG's but the Browns need to spend a little bit of money on someone who can kickoff into the end zone.

On my final note, I guess Johnny football can wait a couple more games:biggrin2:
