Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

Why would I move my best 3tech to a possible edge roll?

Edit: that's not to say that there aren't looks that we Could use 3 bigger interior bodies on the field. Some of the double eagle looks we used vs Baltimore and their QB driven running game are a prime example.

Not that anything last years coaching staff did was good, but they bumped Richardson to DE some after Garrett's meltdown. It really depends if they keep Vernon. If they cut him the best 4 would be Garrett, Ogunjobi, Billings, and Richardson so you want those guys on the field. Richardson is also the one player than can play the 3 or end depending on matchups. if they keep Vernon or cut him and sign another every down DE Richardson at end is moot. I hated last year when they signed Richardson, traded for Vernon, but then traded Ogbah for little return. He was cheap enough they could have kept him for depth. I'm hoping that they have learn that sometimes it's good to pay a little extra for quality depth.

That was out of complete emergency and desperation to generate a pass rush. You'll notice when we lost Myles we also went with more man coverage and 5 man pressures as well. Very hit and miss results. Hit early on, miss when teams started throwing on more traditional "running downs". It's just not a role we should be having SR fill. I can't imagine they keep Vernon and I presume they're actively shopping him. I'm all about quality depth, but I need my depth to function first and foremost with performance and adherence to scheme/talent fit. So I would presume edge defenders will be queued up for us come draft time as well as free agency.
