Just cut him and take the cap hit.
Oh no not now...

(and if I'm being honest I'm not sure this article is exactly correct, that said, whatever is accurate, is that they have a whole bunch of this insured, including some of his prorated signing bonus if the other article I read is more correct than this one... EITHER WAY... cutting him now is a bad idea)

The Browns hold the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, which could be used on one of the top quarterback prospects.

"I think the reality of it is that room, it will look different next year," Berry said Monday.

Watson has two years remaining on the five-year, fully guaranteed $230 million deal he signed before the 2022 season. The Browns owe Watson $46 million in each of the next two seasons and he has cap hits of $72.9 million in 2025 and 2026, currently the second highest in the NFL. Watson has played in just 19 games since the Browns traded three first-round picks for him in March 2022. He posted the lowest Total QBR in the NFL before his season-ending injury.

Just sayin': If the Browns can't trade for a QB1 or sign a free agent QB1 (and there isn't much there), they will need to draft one. The bad news is that 2025 doesn't appear to be a very good year for drafting QBs.

It's widely expected that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders and Miami QB Cam Ward will be the top two picks. If Sanders goes first to the Titans, Ward is an ideal fit in Cleveland and would excel in Kevin Stefanski's offense.
