Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

53 spots, they can’t afford to keep one. Sometimes the punter can take short ones, but that’s about it. It’s not a situation teams plan for it doesn’t seem like.
As Peyton Manning used to tell his backups, “You don’t get practice reps because if you have to enter the game we’re fucked… And we don’t practice fucked.”

How was Flacco not a backup when the season started yet somehow Keenum was?

I don't think Flacco wanted to be. Vets hate training camp and who wants to be a back up on a bad team, like he was last season?

He stayed in shape in case an opportunity arose and jumped when the Browns called. They're legit contenders with this team.

2 reasons

For 4 years Keenum was only supposed to be a backup and performed accordingly

Flacco had a few different expectations with objectively bad teams

Not making any point but we had Tyrod Taylor just tonight come on for the Giants i. Yet a different role BUT my general point is any QB needs the right environment

The interesting thing to me is the Browns have not in any way asked him to manage the game. Its turn it loose 40+ times and more down the field as they get more on the same page. Picks have happened. Whatever
