Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

The biggest mistake the Browns made on Saturday was trying to throw the ball rather than using the running game and Watson's legs like the Saints did with Hill. No offense is going to put up good stats through the air in frigid windy conditions. I don't think Stefanski is a bad coach, but I would like to see him turn the offense over to someone less likely to make dumb play calls like throwing it twice in a row when they are 3rd&2. They could really use new coordinators on both sides of the ball next year and new players up the middle of the defense.

Watson hasn't put up good stats in decent weather either.

71/123.. 2 TDs and 3 INTs; Obviously worth every penny of the $230M plus 3 first round picks, swapping spots in a couple more 1st rounds.. then tossing in 3 other picks

meanwhile in a land far far away, Baker is 58/84 for 4 TDs and 1 INT

But there's always next year

The amount of people lamenting Baker is hilarious.

- The guy is lucky to have one picked called back from so-so DPI and another over throw vs one of the worst coaching staffs in the NFL his first game. An over throw on the same yankee concept that he ripped directly AT the safety against Green Bay last year. Speaking of....

- Then faces a Packers squad that beat his ass less than 365 days prior to their last meeting and throws sub 60%. Shocker.

- Draws a Broncos defense that has all but carried the corpse of Denver and finally folded after they had enough of Russell and his turnover prone nature. That same Broncos team that actually has (had) the worst coaching staff in the NFL.

You guys have seen 5 years of this.

- If it's a game positive script and the running game is going, then Baker does fine.

- If it's a game negative script and defenses can bait his tendencies, Baker struggles and has yet to overcome those glaring deficiencies.

Sadly money has given Browns fans this belief that Watson was going to come back and produce at an NFL vet level. This season was always a sort of a throw-away in preparation for 2023, otherwise they would have kept Jacoby as the starter. Wise money would have kept him in there to see if we could have continued a playoff push. But said money talks VERY loud, so the backdraft from not playing Watson might have been even worse.

Stef did some smart things, such as the misdirection QB sweep where Watson could protect himself. Then he did something dumb like draw up a slot fade on 3rd and 8. A few questionable calls and, by my count, 2 dropped passes in the endzone, and it's difficult to win a game in the NFL. Let alone in those types of harsh conditions.
