Baker looks like a guy that is clearly injured and trying to battle through it in a contract year.

I always at least saw arm talent mixed with stupidity but now the stupidity comes with broken mechanics that can’t cover the bad decisions.

I don’t know but I think it’s time to send him off. Here we go again…love the rest of the foundation but QB has to at least be passable.[/QUOTE

I say keep him we have to stop the cycle of rebuilding every 2-3 years.

Probably take $40 Mil to keep Baker. I’m sure the Browns can get someone who can put up numbers just as good if not better for $20 Mil. Use the extra $20 to keep Ward amongst others.

BUT.. is there another taker at $40M for Mayfield? I would be extremely surprised. Maybe the Browns offer him an extremely performance-bonus-laden contract. Until a better option comes along to swap him out.
I remember a talking head speaking about Baker... paraphrasing... not what you'd want but you don't get rid of a player until you have something better

I see what you’re saying. It will be interesting to see what the QB FA market looks like at seasons end. I suppose they could tag him for 1 year.

Browns have a recent history of getting rid of something better in favor of a complete unknown - Brian Hoyer says "hi".

Speaking of (comparing the 2020-21 roster to that 2014 group) if you factor in salary, draft capital invested and supporting cast between the two (especially the defenses) Hoyer is actually the best QB CLE has had since Bernie. And THAT is a fucking tragedy.

The Clowns spent 20 years looking for a QB. Mayfield has been up and down, but showed last year he's good enough to at least get them to the playoffs and even win a playoff game. He wasn't great against KC, but he was good enough for them to be in the game before the defense let Chad F'n Henne run for 13 yards and ice them.

I don't know if Mayfield is the answer. I do know that he played really well last season, particularly over the last two months. I also know he's been bad this year, but I'd wager a lot of that is playing with a bum shoulder. I guess my point is, I'm not so sure fans of a franchise that spent 2 decades wandering in the wilderness going through one awful QB after another should be in such a rush to discard the first QB that got them anywhere in that time.

It's just a totally Cleveland situation. Mayfield probably isn't gonna get you a ring. BUT, he's been the most capable QB they've had since Kosar by a lot. So, do you hope you can put enough around him to get over the hump, or do you toss him aside and pray you don't spend another couple of decades trying to find "the guy" again?

The window for the Browns is closing. Most of their high level talent is signed for the next few years. I'm not a fan, but it will be interesting to see if they just exercise his 2022 year or look for a better option on the FA market.
