I'm not sold that Baker Mayfield is a true franchise qb... yet. But, the faux qb controversy is some dumb shit. CK can't give this team what Baker can over the course of a season and sure as hell doesn't have future potential; he's proven that over the last several years. What we found during last night's game is that our WR's are playing hurt, or just aren't that good at getting open consistently. If the running game can continue to dominate, it won't matter. If Landry can get healthy, OBJ can get to average, and DPJ can continue to improve, the passing game will be good enough to support the running game; that's all that's really needed. Baker doesn't need to be Brees' level to get a solid contract as a starting QB for this team. But he definitely needs to be healthy and a bit more consistent, which is very feasible and worth investment, given the alternative. If he doesn't, there's no way Keenum leads this team deep into the playoffs.
