Cleveland Browns (Factory of Sadness)

Just read this is the 27th season since they came back. It will also be the 19th season they have had at least ten losses in a season. 70% of their seasons have been abject failures.

You have to admit that level of consistent suckitude is impressive and maybe why the state elected officials are giving them so much of our money.

If you can’t be rewarded with a Super Bowl trophy for being good then be so bad they give you a monetary reward instead of.

Sanders the QB for the rest of the year. Will they keep Gabriels? I still think they need an experienced QB to minimally mentor and be a solid backup.

Watson isn't going anywhere at least for another year. I'm guessing that's your QB room next year unless somebody makes an offer for Gabriel. Watson is untradable unless there is a major renegotiation. Stupid Jags are ruining the extra first-round pick, so my hope of getting Tate and Downs in the first round will never happen.

The organization is an epic cluster fuck. Until they get ownership that is actually committed to building a winning team, nothing will change.

The NFL should have some sort of rules around ownership of teams who are perennial losers. You can’t get a new stadium and hence a SB or you have to sell after ‘x’ years of ineptitude.

There is no incentive for the owners to do anything differently. Their net worth has jumped tremendously. They are getting massive public money for their ego project (new stadium). And when the numbers don’t add up from the new place they will cry poor and get more public money. Plus, fans continue to flock to their games and the rest will be the cost of season tickets to the new venue. I expect they will follow the trend of reducing number of seats while jacking ticket prices.

Don’t forget the PSL….

This is why I think the NFL needs to have rules around inept ownership

By NFL standards the Haslams have been successful. Claim they can’t afford the new stadium they must have, get local public funding, keep fans coming to a dumpster fire, and increase the team’s value. They did all that while decreasing the competitiveness of the product on the field.

I would guess the inept owners may be like the owner of the rams who funded a new stadium with private dollars.

I’m not disagreeing with you at all. I’m just so cynical of the NFL that I feel they measure the success of a team differently than the fans. Dollars vs wins.

Just imagine a city saying No to a new publicly-funded stadium. One can dream;-)

If people are stupid enough to spend 100s of dollars to go watch a team that sucks year in a year out, who am I to judge.

But, yes I think the NFL should care about teams being competitive.

As PT Barnum said, there’s a sucker born every minute
