Agree that Jimmy is a leader. There is a not so fine line between being a leader with a vision and being a Jones/Davis type. That is where my fear lies....he has too much Jones/Davis in him that will manifest as time goes on. I hope I am wrong about that and that he maintains being the leader who charts the course that this franchise has been lacking since 1999.

Banner scares me more and more with each passing day. Report from Jason LaCanfora that Whisenhunt basically said no to the job because Banner told him that he (Whisenhunt) would not be able to assemble his staff, that he (Banner) would have final say in the assembling of the staff. I hear that and shake my head. Really, what head coach would agree to not have final say on his staff.

And that brings me back to Jimmy. Jimmy needs to reign in Banner, IMO, unless that is the model that Jimmy wants to have for the franchise.

it appears that whole schtick was false. but at least we know that haslam is jerry jones 2.0 based upon erroneous rumors.

I can't agree more. Haslam needs to grab Banner by the throat and tell him that he needs to let the coach and whoever the GM turns out to be to call the football shots. Bill Cowher was asked yesterday on NFL Today if he would take a coaching job if he could not name his assistants and he gave a pretty stern No.

That is not a good link to any story.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A report that talks broke down between the Browns and head coach candidate Ken Whisenhunt on Thursday because the front office wanted input on staff issues is "totally false," a league source told The Plain Dealer today.

Replace the bolded words with "has already manifested itself" and you're right on.

Make no mistake here - Jimmy is running the show. Think of Banner as the limo driver - he has discretion to change lanes from time to time, but Jimmy is definitely telling him where to go.

Anyone remember DA's good bye to the Cleveland fans?

Pretty hard to forget it. He's right, Cleveland fans are ruthless - however he's the most productive QB we've had in the new era... sadly.
Of course he's directly responsible for the loss to the Bengals. Scratch that, Crennel and him deserve equal blame. If they had just run the damn ball we'd actually have gone 11-5 that year.

That said. If he's brought back I do hope our fans show a little... restraint.

D.A. coming back? Could quarterback Derek Anderson be headed back to Cleveland? The Browns have been in contact with Anderson, according to WEWS Newschannel 5's Mike Cairns.
"Looks like it is time to make a return to a familiar place for some unfinished business," Anderson posted on his Facebook page, according to Jeff Schudel of the Lake County News-Herald. "I'd be honored to return to Cleveland to play football if the fans would have me."
Anderson had his best season with the Browns in 2007 when new head coach Rob Chudzinski was offensive coordinator. The two worked together last year in Carolina.
Anderson criticized Browns fans after leaving the team in 2010, but quickly apologized.
