Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

Cleveland media (except for MK Leopardprint) was actually really tough on Lombardi...Lombardi just dodged every question and Haslem got more and more pissed. This has all the makings of FAIL at Homerian Epic proportions.
I guess that's what I don't understand. Haslam had to know that the Lombardi hire was not going to be very popular, to say the least, with Browns fans and the Cleveland media. In addition, he had to know this was Banner's choice back in August when he purchased the team so why did we make the announcement sooner. I mean if he knew there was going to be big-time backlash why wait. I know that the man is a multimillionaire and has to know something about organizational structure and people but he seems like he is making decisions that are turning Browns fans against him. It just doesn't make sense.

Serious question, for once -- what credentials does Dumbardi have that would lead anyone to believe this was a prudent hire? Anybody that was expecting better days when Jimmah Haslem was hired was simply fooling themselves.

Honestly, I think it's him saying "[censored] you, I'll hire who I want to hire." Can't imagine another explanation.

The man has to know something about public relations so why would he tell Browns fans [censored] you and the Cleveland media is all over this hire.

Because he can? *shrug*

The clowns fanbase/media contingent is about as vocal as there is anywhere. Maybe Jimmah was sick of everybody's opinions. I think this is his way of showing this is his organization, and he won't kowtow to the fans and media.

As long as he mans up when "his organization" goes 12-36 in the next 3 years...

So being an Exec. makes his talent evaluation that much worse I assume?

Says he's shutting down his twitter and that "Josh Gordon can have it"...
If this guy has any semblence of manhood he'll find Gordon in the complex, pull him aside and say "You turned out to be a pretty good ball player".

You'd expect a better man to do that. Oh, my personal favorite.

"I have great passion for this town. Every time I hear Springsteen play Youngstown, it makes me work out better."

- You don't workout, you fat [censored]. Your face alone is huge.

Is there a transcript out yet?

I don't have time to read back through the whole thread to see if it has happened, but I'd like to know If Gordon is still viewed as a "wasted pick" or if that comment was made before he proved to be awesome. I'm going to be pissed if they use the good picks in the draft on positions that are already filled. Plug some holes and see what we have next year with an improved coaching staff.

what's puzzling to me is how these doofs can assemble what appears to be a strong coaching staff, assuming horton comes on board as expected, yet hire the biggest assclown to hold the title of GM.

Given the history of this organization, regardless of who's calling the shots, is it really all that puzzling? This franchise has been a snuff film going on fifteen years...

It was made before the end of the season. He was asked about it, and sort of tacitly said he was wrong without really saying it. Make no mistake though, if he hadn't had a great season, he would get rid of him just because he could.

Oh. Acknowledging that Lombardi is a risky hire is about the biggest "Fuck You" Cleveland fans have received since that cock-bag Lebitch took his talents to his boyfriends town.

Banner even saying that Lombardi "Has changed". 1st off - that's admitting he was a shitty executive to begin with. 2nd - How has he changed? He's been an even shittier analyst of football talent then what he was as an executive. He has been out of the leaguefor 5 seasons. The NFL is literally the only business entity where you can suck at your job yet somehow keep getting repeated hires for the same positions. It's fucking mind-boggling.

You hire a man with one of THE worst track records in a GM's history because, he is your friend. That's the bottom line here. When this goes further to hell (which I honestly didn't think possible) I want Lombardi gone, Banner gone and a public apology from Haslam. Nothing less with suffice for these fans who must now endure 3 more years of absolute garbage teams when they were headed in a positive direction.

By LoLbardi's own admissions the "roster needs to be rebuilt". No it fucking doesn't. We need a few peices here and there. Heckert did all the heavy lifting for you, don't come in now and put it to the torch.

There is zero point of having a decent coaching staff in place when you cant bring them any talent to work with.
