Georgia vs Clemson is intriguing. Clemson replaces damn near their entire OL but Georgia replaces almost their entire front 7. Should be fun. With Clemson’s schedule though I don’t see anyone hanging within 2 TDs of them. Probably won’t be challenged until the ACC Championship.

yeah, Clemson has a lot of young talent coming back on defense. That will be a much better defensive team. They'll be right back in the mix again next year.

All 4 CFP teams breaking in new QB's next year. Clemson's at least has some big game experience. Should be interesting to see if anyone different can crack the top 4. My early guess is OU.

Clemson, Bama, OSU and OU sounds about right......lol

I've yet to figure out why Clemson recruits at such an average level at LB. There's an awful lot of Kane Patterson and James Skalski types reach year for a school that recruits superstars at other positions. Clemson will frequently have 2-3 five stars on the dl, qb and elsewhere, but a bevy of 3 stars or low 4s at LB.

There's usually an exception to that rule, and Trevor may be that exception, though he's more of a nickel safety. Mike leaving extends that pattern

Which is even stranger because they signed two 5 star LB's in 2011, well before Clemson took off

Is it because of scheme? Doesn't Venables' scheme place more emphasis on the DL and DBs?
But their last 2 recruiting classes have netted to 5star LBs and 3 4stars(and 3 more 4stars in 2019), I'd say that's pretty damn good. Especially getting Barrett Carter, who's a player that OSU wanted badly

My comment is based largely around the teams they've fielded in the last 7-8 years.

That talent is not within miles of what they sign at qb, wr, dl. They've had scores of stars at all of those positions, and unheralded guys become studs.


Their next few teams may field a different caliber of player. Simpson was certainly a big step up.

Clemson OC Tony Elliott gets extension through 2025 season, raise to $2M annually

Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott will now make $2 million per year after receiving a contract extension and raise Thursday, giving the Tigers two of the three highest-paid assistants in the country.

The Clemson board of trustees approved the three-year extension through Jan. 31, 2026, and a $300,000 raise for Elliott, which will go into effect July 1. Both he and defensive coordinator Brent Venables will be in the $2 million club. Venables is the highest-paid assistant in the country at $2.4 million per year.
