Cincinnati Reds (2026 Season Thread)

The were put on waivers. Not DFA.

All teams do this at the end of the year with worthless expensive twats. They are just hoping for some MLb charity and someone else picks them (and their salaries) up.

and as expected no one else in baseball wants either one of these sorry ass losers.

Eugenio Suárez, TJ Friedl Clear Waivers, Will Remain With Reds

By Steve Adams | at August 27, 2026 12:58pm CDT

Slugger Eugenio Suárez and outfielder TJ Friedl both went unclaimed on outright waivers and will remain with the Reds, reports Charlie Goldsmith of FOX 19. They’re expected to be with the club for Friday’s game at Wrigley Field, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic adds.

Ya know I hate the Cubs as much as anyone but if Pete Crow dont win the MVP is bullshit. What a freaking season he's had

Edit: Lol I was just looking at my fantasy score and didn't realize he was killing the Reds today. Lol figures

Ok, it's game week for the Buckeyes so the Reds season is over for me (what little attention I gave it this year). Lets see where we stand:

*Dead last in the NL Central, 21 games back of the Brewers
*8 games back of the final WC spot, 6 teams ahead of us
-110 Run Differential, 3rd worst in MLB. Only Colorado and the A's are worse.
*90 losses is a benchmark within reach (currently tracking 86)

The best thing you can say about them is they have a much worse run diff than the Mets and the Giants but have won more games than both (so far).
So they have that going for them.
Which is nice.

Hector Rodriguez is one of the few bright sports this season. He looks like he will at least be a solid starting corner outfielder, which is something they need desperately.

I just dont understand what happened to contact hitters. Guys like Arroyo drive me insane. He has absolutely no power but he also takes huge swings and strikes out all the time. 0 homers and 37 K's in 150 ABs is ridiculous

as far as contact hitters, just look at Luis Arraez. He is the best in the business over the past 5-6 years and he's been on what? 5 teams? (Minn, Miami, Padres, Giants, Phillies) He's on a 1 year deal for ~$12MM

Powerless contact has limited value overall.

Arroyo is just a terrible hitter, not the poster child of guys who should be contact oriented.

I'll buy into Hector Rodriguez, like all promising rookies, when I see him make the adjustment after the pitchers make their adjustments and he has a bad spell. Elly and Sal passed that test, the rest of them have not.
