Cincinnati Reds 2024 (bad at baseball)

Krall continues to be active around the margins.

If he keeps this activity level up with some more impactful parts of the roster, I will be pleased.

(until they all spontaneously combust in 2024 but since we all know it's coming, I don't see any need to worry about it)

Indians/Red picking 1 and 2. I'm going to assume this is a dog shit draft.

This would leave, for the moment, 6 for 5
Candelario/CES/India/McLain/Marte/Candelario
1B Candelario/CES
2B India/McLain
SS Elly/McLain
3B Marte/Candelario
DH All of above

And is Steer now the power RH bat for the OF platoon with Benson or Fraley?

I look at it like this:
4 infielders
3 OF
2 catchers
1DH

That's 10 spots for 13 guys. When you use this super sub/NHL line rolling approach you are turning that roster spot who used to be a 4th OF or utility infielder into a much better caliber ball player. Your "bench" is now guys like Steer, Benson and Fraley.

That is a massive bench upgrade and it addresses one glaring weakness from last year. It also improves the odds of guys to stay healthier (like India) because you build in some rest.

I'd still do something with Fraley/Benson. To me they are the same guy. Pick one, trade the other and maybe still add one more FA outfield bat.

most days I'd do this:

C-Stephenson
1B-Candelario
2B MM
SS Elly
3b Marte
DH-CES

LF-Steer
CF Friedl
RF Benson

Gives me a bench of India (RH), Fraley (LH) a true 3 spot back up OF and the back up C.

I'd still like to do better than Fraley/Benson. I also wouldn't mind swapping Stephenson out for a defensive catcher if he doesn't hit again this year. He's a butcher back there.
