They got swept in Toronto, battled the Braves in Atlanta, then came to Cinci. Those are some tired D-bags. They have won but 5 games to this point in July, lol. Onto the land of constipation.
Everyone knows I’m a Sidewalk Reds Fan and I pull for the Braves first. But IF this is true, it tells me one of three things:
1). The Reds management is very serious about locking down De La Cruz, Steers and McClain and others and believe they can replace India cheaply with talent at the farm or in free agency. They view the extensions of those three more pressing than India’s.
2). The farm system is so talent deprived of pitching prospects that this is simply the best move to address this deficiency moving forward.
3). A division title might be nice in 2023, but the real prizes are in 24, 25 and 26. It’s time to prepare for that now.
He's a great chemistry guy, but average offensively over the last season+ and well below average defensively. He's a couple years older and will be up for a new contract before the other guys.
The Reds are already struggling trying to find places for everyone to play in the infield and have guys like Marte, Collier, and Arroyo coming down the pipeline in the next year or two.
That being said, I'd rather they look at a trade like this in the off-season.
