Tonight is game 81. Halfway home and no matter what happens, the worst they are is 1/2 game out of first in a bad division.

If you told me in the spring that Abbott, Steer, McLain and Elly would all be up and doing very well with the team playing better than .500 ball I'd have 1) said you were fucking crazy and 2) taken it in a heart beat.

SP is in bad shape and I don't know that you can fix it given market conditions. I'd focus on making the bullpen the best 8 guys you can roll out there and maybe finding a big outfield bat instead of paying too much for a SP rental. Help the offense score more, help run prevention via the bullpen and see what comes of Greene and Lodolo is about all they can do right now and I am ok with it, personally. I'd rather build for a long term consistent winner than go crazy for it this year.

I wouldn’t hate picking up a #4 or #5 veteran starter for cheap to eat some innings, but I definitely don’t want to see CES, Marte, Collier, etc gone for a short-term rental.

This team is ahead of schedule — the window to win is just now opening. No need to rush things.
