Apparently there is some mild smoke around getting Verlander from the now open for business Mets.

A Verlander/Greene/Abbott playoff rotation gives one a certain firmness when you think about it.

LeCure gave some rationale for doing that - get another starter so they can take some load off Abbott's arm and maintain its freshness.

Verlander is 40. I don't love it especially if we're giving up any future stars. A bunch of filler players and some cash and I can go for that. If Greene comes back dealing, I say we sit tight on that situation and take a good look at Hicks from the Cardinals for the bullpen.
