Cincinnati Reds 2018 season (It's that time of year again)

There are 20 FA's out there that aren't currently signed for various reasons. Looking at the list, they are probably all better than this Red's roster. Fucking disgusting to still be a Red's fan after 42 years. :sick1:

So one week into it and here are some fun numbers.

Team pitching:
  • k/9 6.92, 4th worst in MLB
  • BB/9 5.02, 3rd worst in MLB
  • ERA 6.58, worst in MLB
  • WHIP 1.6, worst in MLB
  • BABIP is only .287, which means they have gotten slightly lucky on balls put in play. It could be worse. Seriously.
Team hitting (or let's be honest, team coming to the plate carrying a bat):
  • ISO .119, T 5th worst in MLB (this is a power measurement and that is the power of a 9 year old girl for reference)
  • they are actually middle of the road in nearly everything else (OBP, walk%, OPS etc)
  • BABIP is .306 which is neutral to slightly lucky
  • I don't know if it's because their games are usually over so fast or what but they only have 226 PA's, 4th lowest in baseball. (MLB leader has 347)
  • As one would expect then with a punchless team that hasn't had many PA's they have the 4th lowest Run total in MLB at 18
They have the worst run differential in MLB at -22 and are tracking for a 91 loss season.

I would almost guarantee they'd get a .270 hitter out of Hamilton if he quit the switch hitting. He isnt good enough from one side of the plate to worry about two sides of the plate. Focus and get better. Quit the dumb shit

I'd have to disagree. His problem isn't being distracted by switch hitting so much as being devoid of pitch recognition, plate discipline and any semblance of power.

I honestly don't think Hamilton could hit .270 off a tee.

With his wheels I'd have him batting from the left side 100% of the time. I'd also have him work on drag bunts until he mastered it, and I'd better not see him launching fly balls. Slap it into the ground and run like hell. If it's a borderline pitch, take it - walks are doubles half the time.

The problem is that he is such a lightweight that pitchers will rarely even give him the borderline pitch to take. They just challenge him with fastballs knowing he can't hurt them. Sometimes a pitcher just fucks up and walks BH but it's a rarity.

As far as the bunting and beating the ball in the ground goes goes, they have tried. He's either too stupid or unable to do it. Same net result.

Elite defender and speed. Arguably the worst hitter among every day players in MLB.

But again I posit, the "they" that have tried are worthless POSs. A decent hitting coach and strategist could get it done.
