Cincinnati destroys Miami,Oh.

Jeezopete

Senior
Did anyone notice this or mention it on these boards? If so, I apologize.
Cincy pulled out to a 32-13 halftime lead and put it in cruise control the rest of the way.
OSU's struggle with Marshall may lessen the significance of Cincy's big win over Miami but it still makes me wonder if Michigan is going to struggle this year.
Cincinnati had a very easy time with Miami. Although the final margin of the scUM vs. Miami game was large, the game was actually played fairly evenly.
Cincy had a much easier time with Miami.
The Hall kid for Cincy ran all over the Redhawks. Had something like 230 yards.

scUM may be in for a long year. The Big Ten is strong this year.

I'm torn on games like this. Like you guys, I take a not-so-guilty pleasure in seeing the witherines get their noses bloodies, but in reality, it's better for us when Michigan is strong, and in particular it's not good for us when Michigan loses OOC games against lesser opponents.

I buy that intellectually but I just can't make myself feel it. I root for anyone to beat the vulvariens with a Bowl game being the lone exception(and thats close).

Vulvarine! Hah!

I know what you mean, I was jumping out my barstool when ND started taking it to Michigan late in the game, too (and unlike most of you, I don't care a whole lot for ND). But I don't want it to happen too often - I'd be a bit disappointed if Michigan failed to take care of business against SDSU this week and dropped out of the top 25. And come bowl time, it's really not close for me; especially when Michigan gets relegated to the Citrus or Capital City bowl by Ohio State.

With Cincy coming on strong, and Marshall headed for a very good season, it's a shame the BCS SoS was taken out of the formula as a separate entity. That one stat seemed to me to be an authentic element and based upon actual game comparisons over a season's play. But, what do I know?

With no SoS to speak of, it allows major teams with weak schedules to march into top 10 with ease...and to run up scores on very inferior football programs.

I seriously doubt a weak scUM would mean anything in recruiting. Teams like scUM and OSU don't stay down for long.
I agree with that, its a very good point. scUM and OSU will always be in the top ten in national recruiting as long as the leaves fall in autumn and the sun comes up in the morning. :)

A couple down years and your recruiting can suffer.....Take a look at ND and Nebraska. They haven't drawn the high quality recruits the last couple of seasons. Most of it due to poor performances on the field.

A couple bad seasons and a coaching change can have an affect.

I don't think Michigan is going to pull a Notre Dame; they may drop one that they shouldn't every now and then, but they're not going to stop being top-ten type program. Further, I don't think we want Michigan to go into a nose-dive like that. We've got the best rivalry in football because both teams are premiere programs in every sense, including annual excellence. We don't want to lose that.

taking the sos factor out of the bcs equation was the absolute worst direction to go...

cfb would have been better off making the sos a major component like ncaa basketball does...

The problem is that they let the whiners affect the system. Oklahoma played a tougher schedule the USC did, and destroyed teams more than USC did, but their lone loss was late and big (and thus more noticeable to all the "experts") while USC's loss to Cal was all but forgotten by the end of the regular season. So, when Oklahoma slid into the title game despite having the same record as USC against a tougher schedule and with their loss coming against a higher-ranked team, everyone went Post Toasties because poor ol' USC "got robbed".
