not sure why that's surprising? The Bengals have spent 50+ years showing that they're fine with the status quo, if that means there are butts in the seats buying into "this year is our year" for at least half a season.

The Bengals retained one of their best offensive linemen ahead of the start of free agency, signing right guard Dalton Risner to a one-year deal.
The Cincinnati Bengals retained one of their best offensive linemen ahead of the start of free agency, signing right guard Dalton Risner to a one-year deal on Monday.
The deal is worth up to $5 million, agents Drew Rosenhaus and Shawn O'Dare told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
