Agreed, extremely well called game. Need to keep emphasizing the run and getting screens in when JB is back...Brady stayed alive and thriving for awhile on a similar concept with a decent OL. At this point I want to win to give the team some momentum going into next year and the draft pick can fall where it falls.

The Bengals righting the ship in the weeks after the Burrow injury has surprised me, but it shows that the coaching staff is good, the team culture is good, and the players believe and trust in their coaches. The Bengals seemingly are on the right track. With a good draft and offseason, they could easily be .500 next season.

Here’s to hoping they can make some things happen this off-season. As it stands now, they likely don’t get Penei Sewell unless some players blow up at the Combine, and given the Bengals track record drafting OL in the first round recently, I’m not exactly confident taking the next best tackle after him.

Yeah, not sure he's there at #5... looking back I wish we just would have lost that damn game to the Eagles because he'd definitely be there at #3. Might have to trade up to get him, which I'm not opposed to really. Otherwise we need a big pickup at OT in free agency and then just trade back to get Pitts (if that's possible). Because I'm with you, we'll screw up the pick if it's not a sure thing like Sewell.

I think utilizing the second/third round pick on Alex Leatherwood would be a solid decision. Gives him some time to acclimate to the pro game. If they can’t get Sewell, I’m all for getting either Pitts or Ja’Marr Chase with the first round pick. If they don’t take Pitts, I think Jeremy Ruckert would be a phenomenal piece to this offense if he goes pro. And (yes, I’m biased) I think Wyatt Davis is as about a sure thing as it gets when it comes to an interior OL. This is about as good a year as any to load up on Buckeyes.

All good points. We could use help at TE or the interior OL, I'm good trading back for someone like Pitts or Davis if Sewell isn't there. To me, the drop off after Sewell is pretty substantial at OT. I think (or hope) Ruckert comes back... with Farrell leaving, he would be "the guy" and probably get more targets with a longer season next year and Olave presumably moving on. I think Ruckert could legit be a first round pick with another year here.

On the defensive side, I'm actually fairly ok with most of the positions assuming we re- sign mostly everyone. If Waynes isn't healthy, we need another CB. At safety, I'm good with Bell and Bates. At LB, I like what we've seen from Wilson and AGB in their rookie seasons...Bynes looked good and Pratt showed some promise... might pick up another LB in free agency though. On the DL, I think Atkins may be done and that warrants a replacement for sure, although I really like what Reader, Covington, etc. showed. Might sprinkle in a defensive pick or two at DT and CB, but otherwise I say go heavy on OL, TE and WR in the Draft.

Bengals are bringing Frank Pollack back as their OL Coach and Run Game Coord. I personally really like the hire. Should actually have a run identity with him coaching, as Mixon had his best season of his career in Yards, YPC, and TDs in 2018.

Now let’s hope they can nail the defensive coaching hires.

Lucky for us it seems like 3 out of the 4 teams ahead of us will take QBs (Jags, Jets and Falcons). And the Dolphins desperately need a WR, so they probably take Chase. Absent trades or some shocking pick, it looks like we can stay at 5 and have Sewell drop to us. If that happens, it would be incredible... in many years he could be the top overall pick. If someone takes him ahead of us, I wouldn't be against trading back a little and getting Pitts, then taking Leatherwood in the 2nd. If we do get Sewell, I would be all for taking Wyatt Davis at the top of the 2nd... he's available there in most mocks and we need all the help we can get on the OL.

This makes sense...which means the Bengals will take a WR at #5 followed by CB from some 3rd tier D1 school that is projected 4th round at best.

Not sure if it’s a smart one.

When the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around, the Cincinnati Bengals will have a great chance to land someone capable of changing the fortunes of a franchise with no winning seasons since 2015.

Armed with the fifth-overall pick, Cincinnati will have a host of instant-impact players to choose from like LSU receiver Ja’Marr Chase, Florida tight end Kyle Pitts, and possibly Oregon tackle Penei Sewell.

But could the Bengals actually trade out of that pick?

My position is that if Sewell is there, that's the only pick. If he's not, only trade back if you get value and still can end up with Pitts. I'm happy with either, though my strong preference is Sewell just because of the need at LT presuming we don't address that need in free agency. Speaking of which, I believe Orlando Brown is leaving Baltimore and if we could manage to land someone of that ilk at tackle, it would be awesome to get a tackle as a FA and draft Pitts. That would make one happy Joe Burrow.

To get Orlando Brown they would have to make a trade, i.e. give up player(s) and or draft pick(s); and besides being a "disgruntled" player for the Ravens, he would be an an UFA in 2022 too. There are some good free agent offensive line players in 2021 that the Bengals could pursue:

1) Brandon Scherff, Washington Football Team
2) Joe Thuney, New England Patriots
3) Trent Williams, San Francisco 49ers
4) Corey Linsley, Green Bay Packers
5) Alex Mack, Atlanta Falcons
6) Russell Okung, Carolina Panthers
7) Cameron Fleming, New York Giants
8) Alejandro Villanueva, Pittsburgh Steelers
9) Lane Taylor, Green Bay Packers
10) Cameron Erving, Dallas Cowboys

Thanks for digging that up. Lots of names I like on there, but I do think we need a more pure LT type. Not that the interior is all pro, but we definitely need to move Jonah Williams to RT or inside, he's not a LT. I would like a proven veteran... even as good as Sewell could be, the bust rate on drafting OL seems to be pretty high. Give me a sure thing and then take Pitts.
