Cincinnati Bengals (Same Ole Bengals)

Defense needs some serious work, and I’m not real wild about the second half offensive performance, but we’ll take the W.

5 wins in 8 games. And Pittsburgh has as, if not a more, difficult second half schedule. Need to get healthy, improve on defense, and continue to improve on the OL.

I am with you, all I really cared about was being 5-3 and getting to the bye week. I think a lot of issues on defense can be solved by getting healthy on that side of the ball. On defense, I think there are some individual guys that are playing lights out...Bates looks amazing as a rookie, Preston Brown is every bit as good as advertised, and Hubbard is playing out of his mind as a rookie (sure, he could be more consistent, but what he is giving us is way more than you can ever ask from a 3rd round pick rookie). And how about Adolphus Washington absolutely balling out? Very happy to see that.

But looking over our injury report, we could have quite a few guys back after the bye week...Dennard, Burfict, Kirkpatrick, Vigil, Bernard, Kroft, Price, and Ross. That should make a huge difference to get them back out on the field, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Well, that was a shit-tastic performance right up there with the 90's Bungles. I get that the Saints are really good and we are still banged up, but dear lord...the defense is just an absolute train wreck. I am expecting a massive downward spiral to end out the zero below .500 at this point.

Hue Jackson getting hired by Bengals in mysterious capacity, will coach against Browns twice

A trip into unemployment for Hue Jackson didn't last long

The Bengals are a natural fit for Jackson, because that's where he coached before he left to take the Browns' head coaching gig. Jackson was with the Bengals in the mid 2000s as a wide receivers coach and returned to Cincinnati after a stint with Oakland, where he was the offensive coordinator and then the head coach for a year. Jackson actually engineered the trade for Carson Palmer from Cincy to Oakland after Al Davis died in the middle of the 2011 season and Hue absorbed a large chunk of power in the resulting vacuum.
