I almost wish I didn't read this post, that dredged up a bad memory. I don't give a crap about preseason, except Joe will inevitably come in cold for the first few weeks and we will probably be 1-2 or something before we gain a semblance of the team we actually are healthy. Is it one year to the day since his appendicitis, which caused him to miss camp, be rusty the first half of the first game, when he uncharacteristically threw multiple int's and the Bengals lost it in OT after Money Mac missed a fg?
Hurst was out about 5 weeks with a calf injury last year, and Burrow's looked pretty bad. I'll bet it will nag him for much of the season.
To correct an error in my post, Mac missed an xp, not a fg. Anyway, sincerest apologies. I'll try again. This Burrow injury, for some reason, reminds me of Money Mac's winning fg against the Chefs in the Jan. 2022 AFC Championship game, when Burrow completed that 27-yard pass to Boyd to start the game-clinching drive in Pittsburgh to seal that game last season, and Sam Hubbard's fumble return for TD against the Ravens.I almost wish I didn't read this post, that dredged up a bad memory. I gotcha man, I just want a freaking win for this team. We're right there. To correct an error in my post, Mac missed an xp, not a fg. Anyway, sincerest apologies. I'll try again. Haha all good. I am just hoping Joe is close to full speed at the end of August and practicing full go. Can't have him stale and start off a season as poorly as we have gotten away with lately...obviously we closed pretty strong, but we just can't get behind that much again this year.Same. I edited that comment to insert emojis to reflect the lighthearted brevity feel I was going for.
Pretty much agree with each point. With practically everyone sitting on offense, there is not much to glean in the preseason but if we are healthy, we know what we've got for the most part and will have a potent offense. The one intriguing part of the offense is Iosivas, I heard he could be a steal and he looked pretty damn good. It is a crowded WR room but hopefully we can keep him around....also have Charlie Jones, who apparently has been struggling with some injuries.Pros:
Evans and Brown looked quick. Brown did not fumble which is the major knock on him.
Tycen looked good. 2 INTs. One he had to fight for and another he anticipated.
Iosivas looked good. Very tall, looked almost a full head taller then the Green Bay defenders around him. Made some nice catches both along the sidelined and in traffic.
Robbins hang time was epic.
After that initial sack the O-line looked fairly decent. Cartman continues his Jekyll & Hyde play. One drive he looked steady the next he'd whiff and let his man right into the backfield.
McPherson looks to be on automatic again.
Cons:
If Burrow misses any games we're in trouble. Neither back-up QB looked sharp.
Second string front 7 play was mediocre most of the game. Little pressure on the GB quarterback and gave up some big runs.
Offense generally looked lethargic and out of sync most of the night.
All in all about what you'd expect from a first pre-season game. Plenty to work on but nothing to panic over either.
On to Atlanta...
