Getting those picks really helps, no way we should not be able to fill every need with 6 picks in 4 rounds. Plus it makes the draft more fun to watch with more picks.

Getting those picks really helps, no way we should not be able to fill every need with 6 picks in 4 rounds. Plus it makes the draft more fun to watch with more picks.
Just signed Pat Sims again...with him and Johnson, we have almost the identical DL of a couple years ago. Hopefully it can operate at that level of effectiveness again.

Charlie Campbell, who does mocks for WalterFootball, had one for us that I really liked:
R1: Randy Gregory (DE, Nebraska) - Even two years ago MJ wasn't really getting to the QB a lot, so I love the addition of Gregory as a pure 3rd down pass rusher as a rookie and let him grow in the future. Wouldn't be super surprised to see our 3rd down DL be Johnson/Atkins/Dunlap/Gregory.
R2: Cedric Ogbuehi (LT, TAMU) - Ogbuehi drops in the draft because of his ACL tear but we don't need him this year so that's fine, and he's still long-term one of the 3-4 best LT prospects in this draft.
R3: Nick O'Leary (TE, FSU) - Would be fine taking a TE here or a little later (Heuerman maybe), O'Leary is a good prospect though.
R3: Grady Jarrett (DT, Clemson) - Run-stuffing DT, hopefully will fit into a rotation with Atkins/Sims/Still/Thompson
R4: Darius Philon (DT, Arkansas) - Would personally prefer to see us go LB here or next pick rather than doubling down on DT/taking another CB and then take another flier DT later.
R4: Ladarius Gunter (CB, Miami)
R5: Tony Lippett (WR/CB, Michigan St.) - Like this pick here for WR depth.

Umm hell yes. That would be a complete coup in my books. I think I might prefer Heureman over O'Leary only because of the balance Jeff gives...O'Leary is more of a pure pass threat and he is the more talented player imo, but Jeff is a better blocker (while a very real receiving threat) to replace Gresham. Then again, I really liked what Hewitt showed as a blocking TE/H, so if we can rely on him then go for O'Leary. And as you said, there HAS to be a LB somewhere in the first 4 rounds.

Signed Denarius Moore to a 1 year deal, I like it. He had his only good season as a Raider under Hue Jackson, and he came cheap I'm sure. If he pans out, he can be a difference-maker as a vertical threat, and if not then we didn't risk anything. And if it means we don't keep Brandon Tate on the roster, so much the better.

That is a really nice pickup, I could see him doing well here. I don't even know how I am saying this but this has been a really impressive offseason for us. Followed up with a good draft and some healthy players and this team will be tough to beat.

Agreed, we've seemingly made some good moves that should allow us a ton of flexibility in the draft, which is what you want. None of the guys we signed in FA are sure-fire stars, but we've done a good job of getting bodies in the places we need them both for depth and a couple upside guys.
Also reading that we're in on Rob Housler, who despite grading out slightly negatively in PFF ratings for the last 3 years would be a good pick-up IMO. He's a big, athletic receiving tight end target who would alleviate our need for a 2nd tight end in the draft, although drafting someone in the 4th/5th rounds like Heuerman or Koyack to develop still seems like a good idea. Eifert's going to be our primary TE because he projects as both a plus blocker and a plus pass catcher, but Housler gives us some insurance/flexibility there.

Agreed completely. I like bringing Housler considering what we need and then draft a TE later on. The more we can go DL/OL early on (and one LB), the better.

Housler signed with Cleveland, so I am assuming we will be grabbing a TE somewhere in rounds 2-5. We did resign Lamur though, which was crucial. We're at the cap (or near it) I think but we should be done with signings until the draft.

I danced for joy when I saw that schedule...easiest I can remember by far. We better win 12 games with that schedule or we never will. And on the road at Oakland to start is not that worrisome. Plus the only non-conference road game that could be rough is Denver, whereas the other road games are Oakland, Buffalo, Arizona, and San Fran (could see some concern most years on the last one but their whole roster is upside down and are on a new coach). Then we get Seattle and KC at home. Now we are the Bengals and anything could happen, but we just couldn't ask for a better schedule imo. We stay relatively healthy and we should have a great W-L ratio.
Speaking of being the Bengals though, we extended Marvin Lewis through 2016. How does that happen with a record tying 0-6 in the postseason? If he wins a playoff game I am ok with it, but way too premature.

The high number of prime time games concerns me, not the opponents. AFC North will always be tough but the non-conference slate does not concern me outside of Denver and Seattle (at home, Hawks struggle on the road so that is minimized). The night game at San Fran will likely come when they are about 2-13 and though they will have nothing to lose, we will likely have plenty to gain by then. Denver I would almost put in the books as a loss if Manning is healthy but I still think the schedule as a whole looks great.

As for Marvin, I personally would get rid of him, but since we're clearly not doing that this year, I like the idea of not having a lame-duck head coach. So long as the 1 year extension is not going to prevent Mike Brown from firing him after this year.
