Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

"Supporting the number of student-athletes currently at UC".

The idea that a large university like Cincinnati can not support 20 soccer players on full scholarship is ridiculous

They take 25 or 30 million dollars per year in subsidies to keep their AD afloat. There's a lot more in the athletic department beyond just soccer that the juggalos can't support. And that goes for the Ohio MAC schools also. Mid-major sports are a financially untenable bubble that is long overdue for bursting.

Here's the percent of the athletic budget funded by student fees and direct subsidies from the university at the Dirty Half Dozen + The Juggalos.

Kent State 70.54
Akron 70.2%
Fredo (Ohio) 69.3%
Toledo 61.83%
Ohio 59.54%
Bowling Green State University 56.82%
Juggalo 47.33% (though the highest dollar amount since they have, by far, the highest overall budget)

Landon Fickell Joins The Family With Cincinnati Commitment

After landing three-star wide receiver Will Pauling yesterday the Cincinnati Bearcats have now landed their second commitment in as many days with three star offensive guard Landon Fickell out of local Moeller High School joining their 2021 class. As most Bearcats also know by now Landon is the eldest son of Cincinnati’s head football coach Luke Fickell. He stands at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds with a big frame and loads of strength to play in the trenches at the college level.

Landon will also be a chess piece along the offensive line as he can play anywhere from tackle to center, right now he is ranked as a guard. Just over two weeks ago Landon earned the offer from the Cincinnati Bearcats with offensive line coach Ron Crook and defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman being his lead recruiters. While it was assumed by many that Landon would jump a Cincinnati offer as soon as it came that was not the case, as I said he waited about two weeks before making his decision. But earlier this week he shut down his recruitment and chose to stay home with the Bearcats, right after his commitment Landon and I got on the phone to discuss his decision to stay home.

I wonder if "Adam Sandler" committed any NCAA violations to get Landon's commitment....... :slappy:

Seriously, I have no idea how close Luke is with his son, but I'll guess "real close"; so I'm saying that with Landon being on the team it might keep him in Cincinnati another 4 years.

According to Thamel, the younger Meyer is making the switch from baseball to football with a plan to pursue a career in coaching just like his father, who also played football at Cincinnati after briefly playing minor league baseball.

“Dad, I made a decision. I changed my major to psychology like you were and I want to be a football coach,” Urban Meyer told Thamel of a phone conversation with his son. “I thought, ‘Oh boy.’”

Just sayin': It's a "career change" move.....

College football bowl projections: 2020 changes make games uncertain, preseason calls difficult

Jan. 2 -Fiesta Bowl
Glendale, Ariz.

At-large vs. At-large

Texas A&M vs. Cincinnati

This would really piss me off: if the Juggalos get in a "New Year's Six" bowl game with the Buckeyes sitting the season out.....It's safe for the Bearcraps to play in Ohio but not the Buckeyes...

I wouldn't get too upset. Everyone knows this year's bowl games are going to be bogus, assuming they even happen at all.

If it happens, I think it'll be interesting. The university and AD are totally going to chomp at the bit to go all in on the bUCkeye state bullshit. Let's see how Fickell reacts. And if we don't hear a peep from them talking smack towards Ohio State then it will mean that Fickell killed that shit in the womb because there's no way that the AD isn't going to want to do it.

Except that Title IX requires a Female sport scholarship for every male sport scholarship - so, cutting men’s soccer means you can cut an equal number of women’ s scholarships too.
