Kalili Springs, way out on the east side. I go there every year and cut mine down. They charge $18 for a 6-footer and $3 for each additional foot (assuming they haven't raised it since last year). Here's the info, along with a link to a page on Dispatch.com that lists a bunch of them.

Kalili Springs U-Cut Christmas Tree Farm, 2425 Stemen Rd., Baltimore; 740-927-7500; 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends through Dec. 21.

I'm against them. They force feed these poor trees miracle-gro and water, don't let them move, and them slaughter them in mass quantities for the enjoyment of a over commercialized bastard of a holiday.

Sincerely,

People for the Ethical Treatment of Fir Trees

The worst is when they cut them back and then paint them! Inhumane, or whatever the same word would be the treatment of trees.

Just do like we did in college. Go driving around until you find a nice one in someone's front yard, get drunk and come back in the middle of the night. Speaking from experience, I would NOT recommend using a chain saw to cut it down though. You would be surprised how many people one little chain saw can wake up!

Find-it-yourself story... Freshman year of college, the guys in our dorm decided to surprise us gals by bringing back the biggest tree they could find for the lounge. Somehow, we managed to thread the top of it across the ceiling after removing all the tiles, so in addition to the main part of the tree, we had ornaments hanging from the parts squished behind the ceiling framework most of the way across the room. It was great.

What about when they bind them and strap them to trucks and ship them across the country only to be sold at some grocery store or road side stand by a man who hasn't shaved for 4 days and has whiskey on his breath. Not to mention the half open red shirt and dirty third day worn t-shirt underneath.
