Chris Holtmann (ex-tOSU Bball coach, HC at DePaul)

I mean if you want to keep screeching, go for it. Maybe it helps you. However, after the football season, how people literally threatened EJ Liddell and all of the other embarrassing shit this "fan"base said during the end of the Matta era, I'm not staying quiet when stupid hysteria and hyperbole is put up anymore.
So you’re fine with what you’re seeing? You don’t think that even in the wake of the fact that no change will be made, that the team and coach can’t be held to any level of accountability? If that’s the case then enjoy the shit show, because you’re going to see more of the same the rest of the season and next year.

We’ve already had the Matt’s discussion so that’s just a waste of everyone’s time. Can’t change history.

I can and have conveyed my opinion about whats going on without hyperbole or calling him an embarrassment to the university.

If you can't or won't bother to try to see the difference it's entirely hopeless to explain it further.

Sure it’s all meaningless and hyperbole in your book. But, to watch this team and think that there is any coaching or growing going on in the wake of the shitshow we are seeing, is well, ridiculous. The season, the locker room, and who knows how many members of this team are lost for the future.

During the game they mentioned that OSU has had the most minutes played by freshmen in the B1G. That's a tough way to win in this conference, especially with the transfers not panning out as well as hoped.

Holden doesn't even play now, Likelele can't shoot and McNeal is streaky - great at Iowa, couldn't hit a three today. Zed getting injured was the beginning of the end. He's played through it but all of his numbers are down since then.

Am I crazy about Holtmann? No. But people constantly comparing him to Thad overlook the century of OSU hoops that came before him. Holtmann's win percentage is still higher than what it was during OSU's first 100 years.

The University doesn't look at a coach like fans. It goes well beyond wins and losses. They showed that when they extended him. Thinking they're going to turn around and fire him months later will only lead to frustration, barring something occurring beyond this disappointing season.

I’ve never once compared Holtman to Thad. So, let’s just stop with that conversation relative to my comments.

What I am seeing is a team that continues to regress and a coach that has done nothing to change that. They were freshmen when they started the season, but have logged enough minutes now to have shaken that off.

I would ask the Holtman apologists, what improvements have you seen? What gives you hope for not just next year, but for a long term future? Are you sure bringing a bunch of new freshman in are going to change what we’ve seen over the last 5 years?

All I hear and read is that we are stuck with him due to contract constraints and we should be happy with being around 500 in the BIG and the occasional NCAA trip.

Calling me a Holtmann apologist is absurd. You even quoted me saying I'm not crazy about him. No one is saying you should be happy, either.

Some of us just aren't losing our minds over a situation that is unlikely to change, at least not this year, and expressing reasons why.

That's a far cry from being a Holtmann apologist or being happy the Bucks are 11-16. I want better just like everyone else on this board.

Not calling you a Holtman apologist. But it seems there are a number here. I’m asking what does anyone see that would tend to make them think anything will change next year or long term?

Other than the contract why are we holding on to this guy?

This is the first awful year under Holtmann. The university is not going to buy him out after 1 awful year. There are fiscal constraints that come into play among other things. Maybe you should start a Go Fund Me page to cover the buyout. That would give you something positive to focus on.

Yeah, don't see this happening. I can't imagine ND running to the bank to buyout Holtmann's contract at this point, but who knows?

For those who may not know, Pat Kelsey is an Ohio native and currently coaching College of Charleston. They're 26-3 this season.

Do I want Holtmann gone? Yes. I think we've seen his ceiling.

Do I know he won't be fired and understand the reasoning? Yes. Basketball is not football in Columbus. Never has been, never will be.

Do I think there is risk in moving on from a coach who still wins at a clip better than tOSU's historical norm and runs a clean program? Sure do. But, I don't think it's prohibitive.

I'm not asking for 2005-13 That's Matta results. But expecting to challenge for a conference title and get out of the tournament's opening weekend once every couple of seasons isn't overboard in my IMO. Holtmann hasn't done that in six years. Well, I guess he was in the B1G race in year one, but he's been firmly middle of the pack or worse since.

I'm okay with giving him another year to finally make some noise. There's reason for excitement with the class he has coming in. That said, given the results most of the last five seasons gives me real concern about his ability to put together a roster that can play together at a high level. If he doesn't put together a very good season next year and win a couple tournament games, I want him gone...not that means a goddamned thing, mind you. If he goes 21-11 and can't get past the round of 32 and still keeps his job, we know that is the standard the shot callers are happy with, which sucks.

Couldn't say it any better. Only thing I can really add is I did watch most of the game at the gym today, nothing better to do and I couldn't turn the channel. The team has just clearly given up and it's a bad look. Not just the team, but the coaches. We've accepted defeat and it's pissing me off. Yeah the season is over, but playing like it is not ok.

So throw results out the window in my book at this point, I'm not ok with CH because he has no control over his team and they have all quit on him and the university. I can't stomach that. Givehim another year with the new recruiting class but it better be a Final 4 run to salvage anything at this point. If we speak about CH apologists, I was one of the biggest ones until this season... we can't have another year remotely close to this season.

This guy has had as many sub .400 seasons as he has had plus .700 seasons in his career. This year can easily make it more sub .400 seasons.

Matta has NEVER had a sub .400 season at any stop.

Holtman is exactly who has been his entire career. Asshoe.
