Gonna have to agree on Kilborn...

In fact, I think the height of Sportcenter... or depth...

Was the old 2am 30 minute version when Olbermann was on his way out... and Kilborn was still pretty new... those dudes didn't care what they said... and did a nice job actually having fun instead of all the canned shit...

One of my favorite moments was after Olbermann was shown the door... they broke in Kenny Mayne with Kilborn on the 2am show...

As some of you will remember, Mayne used the terminally stupid "Yahtzee!" as his Homerun catchphrase... (As though this could hold a candle to Kilborn's "Do a little dance, make a little glove")

Anyway... Mayne is calling the highlight... and... throws out about 25 Yahtzees! in 48 seconds...

They cut back to the studio and Kilborn truns to Mayne and goes, "Don't ever say Yahtzee again!"

And... they cut to commercial...

If that's not enough...

The next night... Mayne... follwing orders... does a highlight and says soemthing like "And Griffey takes one deep."

At which time, Kilborn chimes in, "Come on Kenny... how 'bout a little Yahtzee!"

"no."

Ahh... the joys of rookie hazing.

I have to confess Kenny Mayne's
"He came off the bench to score 20. Had he been on the bench, he would have been out of bounds and they wouldn't have counted" always got a laugh out of me... as did:

"I am the King of Golf! I demand a feast, bring me the finest meats and cheeses in all the land!"

and finally,

"His 634th home run. Not in this game, that'd be a record" for whatever reason amused me continually.

While we're venting about Sportcenter anchors, I have a bone to pick with Laurece Davis.

Just say the team's fucking nickname. The "Fighting Manginos" of Kansas or the "Fighting Tedfords" of Cal is dried up.

And get your teeth fixed while you're at it.
