Chip Kelly (OC Las Vegas Raiders)

This is definitely unwelcome news, wish we could have got more than 1 year out of him. But when you have the success we did, the coaches with no former ties to Ohio State will likely move on to the next gig for more money. If Day is an elite coach though, he will make the right hires to replace them...this happened to Saban almost every year and it did not phase him.

I'm calling you crazy. Nebraska and tcun were rough - not sure why - rest were good to great.
There were quite a few head scratchers to me.....1st half vs Marshall. 1st half vs Akron. The Nebraska game was atrocious. The Penn State game was a slugfest but we had way more talent....not sure it needed to be that close. Heavy winds at Northwestern but didn't think that was a great offensive performance. Struggled a bit with Indiana (got gifted two TD's on special teams). Michigan was obviously a train-wreck.

With as much talent as OSU had, I thought the regular season was not up to the standard they should've been playing at. Thankfully, when the playoffs rolled around, they were a different team. They finally took the Lamborghini out of the garage.....

Marshall (I was there) and Akron are games you work on stuff and work out the kinks. The Marshall game especially was where it became more evident that the front 4 and back 7 weren't in sync defensively.

Penn State's gameplan was put on hold after the pick six. They went into survival mode at that point.

Nebraska was indeed a weird one and I attribute a lot of that to having a brand new left tackle who wasn't ready. In the process, they ultimately moved Donovan out to LT and that was a huge key to winning the whole damn thing so sometimes good thing DO come out of struggles. I think the LT struggles in that game were a bigger issue than we have been led to believe.

The TCUN game still looks to me like they were expecting one thing, it didn't work, and they overthought their way into a really small box they couldn't escape from. Kelly did that virtually once or twice every year he was at Oregon too. Baffling losses to less-talented teams where the offense goes clunk.

All in all, I also think they were pacing themselves because they knew they had that Lambo in the garage. Can't say I totally blame them given what they gave us either.
