Chaz Coleman (DE Penn St.)

Per 11w poster:
Penn State insider on Chaz Coleman:

He hasn't had the conversations, but his people have. Backchanneling, etc. Like I said last week, it's not much of a secret that he'll land in Columbus next year. Ohio kid, great development, head coach that brought him to PSU gone... just a bunch of things that would contribute. Personally, I don't think Chaz is phased by the numbers of it all. Not saying he doesn't care, but as long as his family is happy, he's happy. I will say it as long as I need to; he's a great kid. Just one of those times that you tip your hat to the situation and say, yeah, that makes sense

Why do you guys think OSU wants him? You go to the portal for players ready to play. He barely got on the field for PSU, despite half their LB corps going down with injury. I'm just putting this here for the lack of snap counts, not for the awful on the field play expected of a freshman. Now, Justin Hill? Bring him the fuck home!! :sneaky:

PFF doesn't tell the whole story, as Coleman didn't play in every game. But his pass rush grade for the year was almost identical to Dylan Stewart as a freshman(someone everyone would've LOVED to land in the Portal). You go to the Portal for players ready to play and also guys who show high potential. Atkinson and George were both brought in as guys "ready to play" and neither have shown to be ready or able to compete at OSU's level. And I could see Coleman passing them both up if he were to be a Buckeye. The interim HC broke down why he didn't play more, and makes sense, since he was more a pass rusher and not yet strong enough in run support.

His stats are near identical to Hill's also btw. And honestly, why not bring in both if possible. But I feel that Hill is happy in Tuscaloosa, and Coleman is more of a realistic get.

He's an athletic freak who has a very good first step to get past OTs and also move around the DL.
