Champions League Final (May 19th) Chelsea vs. Bayern Munich

Didier gets his... if I read it as a script I would have laughed it off as too unbelievable...and not just today, but the Blues entire Champion's League run.

FA Cup..and now the greatest trophy in club play.....

Sucks for the Spurs...but what a day!

hear that? that's the sound of $32million evaporating

[rant] That droopy-faced jackass who allowed Spurs to piss away 3rd place after being ten points clear doesn't need the $32 million. He already has enough money in his dog Rosie's offshore account, thank you very much. [/rant]

The money isn't as big a deal to Spurs as the opportunity cost. I believe Spurs' policy when they were in the CL before was that they budgeted as if they didn't have the extra money. If they had made it this time I expected that to be the case again. The real loss is the opportunity cost - the players that they'd be able to afford regardless, but who want to play for a club that can offer CL football. Vertonghen said he wanted to come regardless. We'll see if that holds true. Remy was supposedly interested, but only if there was a CL berth so he's gotta be off the table now.

I'll be interested to see what happens with guys like Modric and Bale this summer. I wouldn't be surprised to see one or both request a transfer, and if they do they can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned. If those guys want CL football they should have seized it when it was at their feet rather than asking to have it handed to them after it escapes their grasp.

Seriously though, congrats to Chelsea fans. I didn't get to see the match - I had to be at a surprise party for my best friend's step-dad (my childhood soccer coach). I thought it was difficult to watch a shootout. It's even more difficult to follow one on your phone.

Since the 1976 European Cup triumph (Third consecutive), Bayern Munich have gone 1-5 in the Final since. The only victory was in 2001 over Valencia on penalties. Where's der Bomber (Gerd Muller) when you need him ?
