Chad Johnson (official thread)

Was he at a bar where this guy got killed? nope. Did he grow up in a rough area? yup, I am sure that he has probally known someone beofre that was murdered, or someone that killed someone.

My whole point was for CJ's sake, even if he grew up in that environment he needs to make the decison to disassociate himself from it. Much like saying "nothing good happens after 10 pm" I'd say if you find yourself getting questioned about murders you might want to consider changing the people you associate with and the places you go. Even if you aren't doing anything wrong you increase your chance of something bad happening just being around it.

Once again, I like CJ, I want him to succeed. It has nothing to do with the Bengals other issues to me personally.

As far as the compared to ray lewis....big difference....chad was not with a group of people who got into a fight and someone ended up dead like lewis.

I never said anything remotely close to comparing this to ray lewis.

Not easy to turn your back on people who you've been friends with your entire life.

I know it would be tough for me.

Besides, Johnson's never really been in trouble with the law to begin with.

They said on the radio that he was just interviewed b/c he was a friend of the deceased, nothing more.

Well it seems that Chad was down in Miami for SB events when this happened, so perhaps he is already doing this.

Sorry if it seemed I was bashing Chad or the dead friend but this on the heels of what happened in Denver seems like CJ didn't learn anything from that tragedy. Of course I don't know the timeline of events but that was just my initial reaction to the news.
Is there some report stating CJ was regularly hanging out with this guy in dangerous locations?

This article sheds a little more light on it. Police say Johnson was cooperative and will not likely be called back.

Dopson and Johnson knew each other as children, he said. Moss did not know if they had recent contact.

Johnson grew up in Miami, his family is there and he lives there off season, he said.

In fact, Assistant Miami Police Chief Adam Burden coached Johnson as a youngster in a neighborhood football league, he said.

Johnson is one of "hundreds" of people they have interviewed since the murder last week - and investigators still don't have much to go on, the detective noted.

His grandma who raised him still lives in the area. He does a ton of charity work down there trying to get kids off the street and out of gangs and drug dealing....but hey he is a rich football player now why should he care about trying to help anybody now.

From players in the league, they say he's one of the best guys around.

And he'll supply your bathroom cabinet with Pepto Bismal.

He's an ass. The fact that he "might" not be a criminal doesn't change the fact that he's an attention whore that personafies the "Me-first" attitude of today's sports.

Me first? How so? He puts on a show for the fans. He doesn't complain, you never hear him bashing his teammates and he gives back to the neighborhood he grew up in.

And he did that is fun, hell he even admitted that year that boden was the only player he felt actually was able to cover him that year. And I dont understand where yo uget teh me first thing with him...is he cocky? yup, talk some trash? yup. But when asked the question are you and palmer the greastest qb wr combo in the league. his answer is no, because this team has not made it to the superbowl...you can't be great until you get to the superbowl with your team.

How exactly do you equate my saying distance yourself from questionable people and places as don't try and help others?

One more time for those who actually read to comprehend, not just to respond; I look at the pinciple of a situation, the essence of what it means. To me the tragedy that befell Williams is clearly saying be careful who you associate with and where you do it. Even if your doing nothing wrong, just being with them or there can increase your chances of something bad occuring dramatically. In the CJ situation, if he were my friend or younger brother I would tell him that if you have to talk to the cops about murders, take a moment and reflect on the people and places in your life. He seems like a smart guy so I'm sure he's already done this to some degree or another.

I CLEARLY UNDERSTAND that CJ wasn't in a bar with the deceased, I wasn't drawing a point by point parallel of the two cases. I was, and am still, saying I hope CJ applies the principle of the Williams case to his own life and stays out of trouble because I really like the guy.

and you are not comprehending....he knew the guy.....was no where near anything that happen...hell we dont even know why the guy was murdered....knowing a guy whop gets murdered does not mean you need to rethink everything in your life.
