CG John “Juni” Mobley, Jr. (Official Thread)

John Mobley Jr. Already Eager to Get to Work for Better Close to Next Season for Ohio State Basketball

“It's definitely fuel to the fire, and it's going to be motivation for me every day for the summer coming up and the work I'm ready to put in to make sure we get back in this position and go further next time,” Mobley said.

Ohio State is looking to the future much faster than it wanted after making its first NCAA Tournament in four years. But with Bruce Thornton off to start his professional career after setting the school’s all-time scoring record, Mobley will be the most seasoned returning guard heading into 2026-27 for the Buckeyes. And he’s already motivated to make that year a better one.

John Mobley Jr. Declares for NBA Draft While Maintaining Eligibility, Will Return to Ohio State If He Remains in College

It's either the NBA or back to Ohio State for the Buckeyes' sharpshooter and second-leading scorer in 2026-27.

John Mobley Jr. announced that he will test the NBA draft waters on Tuesday, but if he stays in college, it will be at Ohio State.

I hope you all are right. The difference in those players and Mobley is he's a pure shooter and the NBA over pays for them every time. Hope he's back and his sister joins him!

Nothing wrong with finding out the 'missing piece' in obtaining a NBA draft number. Gives one something to work towards. Unlike football, don't see many NBA ex-players returning to coaching (relatively speaking). So, who gives these kids the secret sauce to get drafted? No, don't believe Mobley is NBA-ready yet, and, correct me if I'm wrong, but declaring for NBA (w/o signing with an agent), is not the same as declaring for the portal. Ergo, portal is closed, so it's NBA or return to former team, am thinking. Only brighter and wiser as to what is needed in order to advance. On another issue, wouldn't want to waste Mobley's energy bringing the ball upcourt. Would rather see him go downcourt, set up, look to break, and then turn and shoot, rather than all the dribble stuff a PG needs to be good at. Anyway, just a thought on a Tuesday morning.
