That's generally true. But this Tennessee team would not have been able to consistently hangs with Nebraska at the time of year when they were missing 7 offensive starters.

Teams don't always just improve or degrade through the year. Sometimes they are a roller coaster.

Of course we have a better idea as the year goes on, but sometimes there are other forces at work.

Let's look at auburn. Early in the season they sucked. They tried to play three qb's and that was stupid. Then they found out they had Pettway and they settled on a qb and they got better. Then their top qb and Pettway got hurt and their backup rb was dinged up and they sucked again. Now they are healthy for the bowl game.

Wait, did we just see a woman sideline reporter who is pretty but not a size zero and didn't pose for the camera?

I still find this sexist. Still a woman. I could be a sideline reporter, I can be sexy.

I just keep going back to USC's defense shutting UW down in Seattle and see no way they'll do any better today. Their only hope is multiple takeaways, and points from other places than their offense. Good luck.
