Game Thread CFP Playoff Cotton Bowl, tOSU vs Texas, Fri. Jan. 10th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

Heard that the average 3rd down distance was 10+ yards. Went back and think I found them all.

3rd-3, 3rd-6, 3rd-26
3rd-8, 3rd-18, 3rd-10
3rd-1, 3rd-15, 3rd-8
3rd-9

Comes out to an average 10.4 yards to go on 3rd. There are some outliers with penalties, but after the first quarter they only had one 3rd down with less than 8 to go. Tough to win a game like that, but they found a way.

Have to stay ahead of the chains against ND.
I m second guessing here, but it looked to me that Judkins had the needed yard if he’d run the play the way it as designed, but he decided to try and jump to the outside and their DE nailed his ass for a loss.

Agree. I understand wanting to sneak it there, but with an NT over the center it’s not as easy. I’d rather them run to the perimeter there if they’re not sneaking. Judkins just needed to get upfield asap.

Yeah he needed to take the crease and make it or be a few inches short. But he tried to bounce it looking for more
with the issues with the OL in the second half of the season i can’t say i blame judkins for not trusting what he sees and tries to improvise. maybe that will change with more snaps from a stable OL but the OL rotations probably are also creating some over-thinking with judkins who doesn’t seem to have the speed burst that henderson has that allows him to take more risks.

Take the good with the bad, super easy for all of us to second guess from the couch in Columbus. Judkins is a fucking dawg out there.
I’m not blaming Judkins. He’s a hard nosed runner, but he but it was makeable if he’d followed the plan. I should add that if the end misses, Judkins is good for five or ten.

Yeah Judkin's was the one busting to begin the year now TreyVeon is and Judkin's is trying too hard. I don't know if the counter scheme plays more to Try's strengths or it's just he's had some bad luck on what his runs are and he's pressing
