CFP Game: #9 Tennessee at #8 tOSU, Sat 12/21 8 ET on ABC/ESPN

Fiesta Bowl, Miami 2002. I actually called my parents weeping like a little child. The first championship of any Buckeye team while I was both alive and old enough to see it. You never forget your first.
Yeah, the fact that it was treated as a true David vs Goliath still makes that the top one.

As far as cathartic wins, I'd rank them:
1. 2002 Cryami
2. 2002 scUM
3. 2014 Alabama
4. 2020 Clemson
5. 2018 scUM

Holy Buckeye needs a mention here if we are talking about cathartic wins

that magic bastard made a lot of us feel like it was ok to live again, that good things could happen to us.

It had been a lonnnnnnggggggg time

To me that ranks up there with magical/suspenseful wins, but it wasn't really cathartic. It was still just Purdue, and a mediocre edition at that. It was too early to know things had truly changed until 2002 scUM. 2001 was a glorious surprise, but it could be written off as catching them underestimating us. With everything on the line for the 2002 game I was preparing for another heartbreak, especially with a hobbled MoC. That win exorcised the demons of the 90s. But I can respect why you'd rank it up there

Not for me. Holy Buckeye was when I knew 2002 was different.

I had no idea of the final outcome obviously but when someone says "cathartic" that was the definition to me.

The weight of Cooper was lifted that day and that was no small thing
