The new Hall of Fame is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta (near Centennial Olympic Park) is scheduled to open on the 23rd and looks impressive.

Nobody ever went to that location between King Island and The Beach. The only time I recall seeing people there was during an annual football game that used to be played near the site. I would venture to say most never knew it was there. Also, there wasn't squat there like there is now. Mason has blown up quite a bit since those days.
