Good call. Do they still sell hamburgers there? What were those tasty things called?

The correct answer was "Furburger." We were looking for "furburger."

Go figure. We shut the furnace off during the day yesterday. Turned it on when we got home last night and have had no problems with it since. Maybe something got caught up in there and was just banging around. Who knows? I did get a little paranoid about an exhaust fan maybe being shot, so I went out (in the middle of the blinding snowstorm from 7-8) and got a couple more CO detectors. Everyone woke up this morning...that's got to be a good sign.

We also have a cat locked in the basement that will act as our canary. I tried to paint him yellow, but was rather firmly chastised for that. I'm not a sure a cat's a good choice anyways. Damned things sleep 22 hours a day anyways. How can you possibly tell if it's getting sleepy?

Thanks for all of the advice, you bastards!

Forgot to mention that ourt furnace is a little older than most.

The first inspection sticker on our furnace is dated 1972. The sticker from the company that installed it has a phone number of "BR 6-2669". :slappy:

3.5 years later, the fan finally quit on us. I knew ignoring my problems was the way to go. Never let me down.

Time to get a new furnace. 95% AFUE is better than 65% right?

Can't you just replace the fan? Or rather, pay someone to replace the fan? :p

Though I s'pose a nearly 40 y.o. furnace may be a bit obsolete - given your AFUE comment.
