Yea, the problem with option 1 is that it still requires a hookup to get the gear.
And allegedly he was relaying signals to CMU as well, testing his handywork.

So... who got him the gear? And who was getting his assistance?
At least one of the coaching staff had to be in on it. Which ones have connections to Michigan and Harbaugh? McElwain is one we know of...

I like how the absolute moron got a sideline pass AND dressed up as a coach when one or the other would have been sufficient but together completely give away the game that he wasn’t supposed to be there.

Or... he was supposed to be there.
It's hard to look at everything he did, and think "Oh this was one guy acting on his own" or even "this was one position coach at CMU enabling him".
