CBF40's look at '12 recruiting (BP's prediction thread)

I think the class stretches to 18, so let me take a way too premature stab at this:

QB: 1 (Cardale Jones: Done)

RB: 2 (Brionte Dunn, Warren Ball: Done)

WR: 1, maybe 2 if the spots/players demand it. (Dwayne Stanford)

TE: 0, two from this past class makes this a non-need

OL: 5 (Kyle Kalis, Jacobs Boren committed. That means three more. Some offers went out today to some OOS prospects, but there also some Ohio prospects like Dodsen and Decker who will surely get longer looks) Needs: 3

DL: 5 (My prediction: McMullen, Lewis, Washington, Schutt, maybe another DT. I think Wormley goes north, unfortunately.) Needs: 5

LB: 2 (Perry committed. We seem to be in great shape with Rippy. I love what I've seen from that Centerville kid. Maybe, he's a little raw, but he's also very talented.) Needs: 1

DB: 2/3 (Bam and Wilson are two safeties that will get looks, I think. This is a tough one to project for me off the top of my head.) Needs: 2

However, next year we could also very well be in the market for a punter with Buchanan going to be a senior in 2012 and evidenced by the whispers that the staff was looking at Koser late in the game. This year's defensive class was sick and full of top-end talent, but next year's could be even greater, imo. The Ohio DL class is almost unfair.

Agree with all this except I would love to see at least 2 receivers and at least 1 corner. OL and DL commitments will be abundant, obviously (and I'm very happy about that).

I would take that list in a heartbeat. Maybe swap McNamara for Wormley or another OL, though. The best thing about that list is the realistic chance we have to get it. :osu:
We will be in Wormley's final two. But he seems a likely candidate to join the potential Hoke-resurgence at Michigan. Chris' comments indicate that he would like to search for good enough reasons to attend Michigan; but I do think that he really loves what Ohio State has to offer as well. It will be close.

I'd love to get him partially to just beat Michigan in another recruiting battle.

Wormley has been leaning heavily towards Michigan at their lowest point in history. It would be a big shock if he headed elsewhere.

This would be a reason for concern if there weren't 7 BCS caliber DE prospects in Ohio this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if this class gets to be over 20. Remember we all thought they wouldn't take more than 20-22 or so but the talent available was to great to turn down. I think it will be a similar situation this year. You always have transfers and some will struggle with academics (hopefully not) as well. I think the staff will somehow find a way to get everyone they want in the class.

JMO though, everyone's take on this class has been great.

That's a top 10 class right there. I'll take it!

Recruiting Update: 2012 Kickoff
TheBuckeyeBattleCry.com

Now that the ink has dried on the 2011 recruiting class, it is officially time to start looking ahead to 2012... recruiting has no off season. The 2012 class is projected to have a relatively low number of scholarships, which is a shame given the huge amount of talent present in Ohio and across the country.

With 5 players already in the fold, the Buckeyes will be looking to add approximately 10-15 additional prospects over the next 12 months. Like 2011, the class will fill up quickly (primarily with in-state players), leaving the coaches plenty of time to focus on a small number of elite out-of-state targets that will take a bit longer to reel in.

continued...
