Too soon old, too late smart
Understand about the fence around Ohio and all, but I'll probably be anal and go back and look up the 'out of state' offers versus the 'in state offers', to see whether Tress & Co wants to put up a concrete fence or a cyclone fence. Understanding the 'best player' routine, with limited resources (available schollies), will the coaches concentrate on the 'best of Ahia' or go national, and potentially spurning some very good Ahia boys? Don't know, can make a pretty convincing argument both ways too.
In retrospect it'll be fun to track, but wonder if any 'insider elite' (such as BB, Steve19, or others) has the 'global strategy'. Tress & Co have gone national (well mostly Fla), and do not want to harm that pipeline, but also want to hang onto the reputation of putting Ahia boys up there early, and establishing that fence. Consequently the strategy of getting a Glenville guy to commit EARLY, rather than late, would probably ensure their receiving a limited scholarship, and avoid having some very good athletes left thinking they're 'second best' rather than a primary target (if XYZ doesn't verbal, then you're in-type of thing).....
Hopefully the offer site gets re=established so it'll make the calcs easier. I believe we'll do well, but hope this year positions OSU for future great classes, instead of shutting down one or more pipelines that have been painstakingly nurtured over the years......gonna be a tough call.
:gobucks3::gobucks4: Being a 'glass half empty' type of guy, this will be a marvelous year for Notre Dome and the Wolverweenies to open/expand their inroads into Ohio. Both new coaches have Ohio ties, and have recruited this fertile state before. Now they've got a much better product to sell.
