Had the pleasure of spending time with Richard this past summer. Watching him work with the kids and seeing his work ethic and heart to go with his knowledge of the game. I PROMISE YOU. Absolutely no doubt. I remember seeing him on the sidelines helping the coaches while he was recovering from his ankle injuries. He was very active then...don't think that Tressel and the others didn't take notice. His injuries may have taken away his chance at starting and possibly getting into the NFL, but it also gave him a crucial head start in coaching experience and exposure.

VMI is I-AA, so he's already made the coaching jump from div III. He'll be at a I-A school by the time he's 30.

Gilbert, McNutt added to UT coaching staff


Joe Gilbert and Richard McNutt have been added to the football coaching staff at the University of Toledo, coach Tom Amstutz announced yesterday.

McNutt, who played at Ohio State, will assume the secondary coach position vacated by David Walkosky, who left to take a position at Washington State.
