CB Kendall Sheffield (New York Jets)

I look at the depth chart and while I won't name names I see a few kids that I'm just not sure how they make it here now. Either being passed by younger kids or now being upper classmen if they haven't made impacts by now I'm just not sure they'll make any impact at all.

I think that combined with putting 3 kids in the first round has many 5 star DB's pounding at the door.

I'm sure one or two of Wade Holmes and Okudah could cover at a high level as freshman so if Holmes commits I think they all could see significant time if Sheffield comes he may be the most likely to start so if they all want to come you absolutely take them and work it out once they get here. Holmes has a lot of flexibility as he could also play Wr as well as pr/kr

Something to consider here-----EVERY spot will be open to competition in the secondary assuming ML declares. You think Annette, Ward or even Webb have their spots locked up? Not hardly.

Also consider how often we will be in a 5 DB set.

Opportunities abound. And all of these new guys have the ability to play major minutes if they bring their A games.

With many of the crystal ball predictions for Holmes leaning towards him staying in Cali. Kendall must become even more of a priority. Could possibly start from Day 1, get grade A coaching from Coombs and Schiano, and possibly leave for the NFL in one year. All while being able to compete for a conference and national championship, and allow the young guys behind him to mature and not be forced into action.

Yep. Very interesting situation for both the player and school.

Which would be absolutely hilarious if that happened and Marshon stayed another year because it would seem like every year tOSU sent studs from the secondary into consecutive drafts.

Apple
Hooker,Conley
Sheffield,Lattimore

That would be so awesome.

Since Tuesday, Kendall's received 12 Crystal Ball predictions for Ohio State from writers for Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, at TSUN. Definitely some smoke there...

Having seen Darnay Holmes play in The Shoe for Friday Night Lights, it's sad seeing Darnay announce for UCLA today. But as good as the #2 CB in the country is, Kendall's even better and would make an immediate impact for the team he announces for. Got my fingers crossed for the good guys

Bumping this for those who haven't seen it yet (from page #1)...

Impressive, love how agressive/smart he plays. Definitely has the making of starting CB with how well he covers and doesn't give any separation and can also come up and attack the run or the screen pass at the LOS. The kick return ability is just icing on the cake. I want to see him in S&G very badly

Makes a lot of sense, knowing that Lattimore is gone (from what I've heard). Sheffield had a great OV with his family and there is immediate playing time available. Now, with Holmes picking UCLA, there seems to be a real need for an immediate impact CB to go with Okudah and Wade. Sheffield may not be in Columbus very long if he is as good as he looks on film.
