"Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods standout Jermaine Mathews had a good offseason of camps, first at the Under Armour Ohio Regional, then college camps where he earned several major offers. His performances at those events got him up to an 89 and the cusp of four-star status, but we wanted to see his offseason progress show up in games.

"That has happened so far this year as he has played well, making big plays in coverage, as a blitzer, and as a return man. The Ohio State pledge has quickness and short-area agility as well as closing speed. Kid was severely underrated and somewhat a forgotten recruit by even us fans I think. Honestly he could be the best DB in our '23 class, amazing frame for a CB and he is crazy athletic and closes so fast on the ball with enviable make up speed. Might keep getting ratings bumps all year but either way, glad Matthews is in our class.
