Dymonte is enrolling in December, so I doubt it.

I would flip out if that happened by the way. Dymonte is easily the best athlete we've landed from Ohio since Manningham.

Looks as if Conley will be gone, though we'll know for sure here soon .. hopefully by Monday.

Ohio State is most likely, he'll visit Oregon as well but they might not offer depending on how some other recruits fall in line for them.

I can't blame the kid for wanting to take visits either. He's only 17 once, and he'll only get recruited by big-time college programs once. Might as well take all the free trips you can and be sure of your decision.

It's been a week since Gareon Conley stated after a game that he intended to take visits, and as of this moment, at least, he's still a Michigan commit. 247's Bill Kurelic reports that may not last long at all, however, as Conley's step-mother says he'll "definitely [take] his visits," with plans to check out Ohio State and Oregon ($):

Angel [Conley] said her son is planning to make official visits to Ohio State and Oregon.

?Ohio State will be an official visit in the next month or so,? she said. ?Ohio State and Oregon will be official visits.?

Nothing has been set up yet, at least, and Sam Webb noted on Scout's board($) that Conley has spoken with the coaches and knows his spot in the class is at stake?Webb also said Conley is still pondering visits, of course. In my opinion, it's tough at this point to see a scenario in which he doesn't take a look around.

If there's good news for Michigan, it's that they have one of Conley's closest confidants in their corner: his father, per Scout's Kyle Bogenschutz:

?Everything just seemed real good up there. I love Michigan and I?m pushing him to go to Michigan. But at the end of the day it?s still his decision. I?m rooting for Michigan.?

?As far as Oregon and Ohio State, those are all good schools too. I can?t put any of them down, but I root for Michigan. At the end of the day, like I said, this is all up to him. If he wants to go see them, I?m behind him, whatever school he goes to.?

Clearly, Mr. Conley is going to let Gareon make his own choice, but it can't hurt to have him pulling for the Wolverines. The longer this process is drawn out, the better it probably is for Michigan?few expected him to make it this far in the first place after last Friday's news.

Michigan?s 2013 recruiting class experienced its first loss over two weeks ago when Detroit Cass Tech offensive lineman David Dawson decommited. These aren?t rare, especially in today?s environment ? U-M lost three commits last year alone, Lyndhurst (Ohio) Brush tight end Pharaoh Brown, Crete (Ill.) Monee cornerback Anthony Standifer and Cincinnati Oak Hills offensive lineman Caleb Stacey.

Dawson may not be the last recruit to leave U-M's class of 2013. Massillon (Ohio) Washington cornerback Gareon Conley is a three-star prospect ranked the No. 56 corner in the nation by Rivals.com. The 6-2, 165-pounder recently said he would like to take visits to other schools.

"I'm taking visits somewhere else because Michigan was the first ever college I visited so I want to see what's out there," Conley told Rivals.com Midwest analyst Josh Helmholdt. "I haven't talked to (Michigan?s coaching staff), but I've got to talk to them about it."

Dawson?s decommitment stemmed from a desire to take visits to other college campuses. U-M?s coaching staff told him that he would lose his spot in the U-M recruiting class if he took a visit to Florida. Dawson chose to take that visit, and the Wolverines revoked his scholarship offer. He has since named Michigan State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin has his favorites.

Could the same happen with Conley?

Like they do of Dawson, U-M thinks highly of their cornerback commitment. However, he would like to take visits to Oregon (his childhood favorite) and Ohio State. If he and the U-M coaching staff can?t come to a mutually agreeable arrangement (which, in the case of Dawson, meant no visits at all, but it was more flexible in Brown?s case, and could be for Conley as well). Either way, it?s clear that Conley is not the firmest commitment to U-M.

Once Conley gets the opportunity to talk to U-M?s coaching staff and lay out the specific ground rules, his status will be more clear. There are just a couple possible outcomes: either he sticks with U-M, or he decommits in order to take visits ? and in the latter case, the coaching staff has a decision to make about whether they?ll still continue to recruit him.

The four-star cornerback has been committed to Michigan since March, but that hasn?t kept programs such as Ohio State and Oregon from continuing to make their pitch ? and that includes plans to play the versatile prospect on offense. This recruitment is a classic battle of an in-state prospect committed to an out of state program and rival, and the in-state power looking to flex their muscles and continue to build momentum under a new regime.

National Analyst Steve Wiltfong on Conley?s recruitment: ?Since Tuesday?s report where Conley?s mother told Ohio State 247Sports affiliate Bucknuts.com that her son was going to call Michigan and tell them his plan to take official visits, we haven?t heard much on this front. Wolverines head coach Brady Hoke has been firm in the past on pulling scholarships from commits that want to take visits. Ohio State and Oregon were the programs Conley?s mother mentioned as potential official visits, and both schools are giving Conley the opportunity to play receiver as well. If Conley indeed has the recruiting process opened up, the Buckeyes would likely become the team to beat, however there is genuine interest in the Ducks. Definitely a lot of different situations to monitor regarding Conley.?

One of the biggest recruiting battles brewing as the 2013 recruiting cycle begins to hit it's peak, is one that seemingly came out of nowhere. After a long commitment to Michigan, CB Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) has said publicly in recent weeks that Oregon is his favorite school. While it is not uncommon for a recruit to talk about a favorite school, it doesn't always mean that school is the best fit for him.

The No. 62 player in the latest edition of the ESPN 150 took a risk by openly discussing his desire to visit Oregon, Cincinnati and most recently, Ohio State. Michigan head coach Brady Hoke has been pretty firm in his rule that if a recruit takes a visit to another school while he is committed to Michigan, his commitment is no longer recognized.

Conley has spoken to the Michigan staff since the rival Buckeyes offered the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder two weeks ago. After expressing his desire to do so, he was told by the Michigan staff that if he chose to visit Oregon and Ohio State, he would no longer be considered a Wolverines' commit.

MASSILLON Gareon Conley started this season as a player opposing offenses had to account for on every play. The Massillon senior had earned, rightfully so, a reputation as one of the top cornerbacks in Ohio based on his play last season.

That remains the case for Tiger opponents throughout Conley?s senior season. But he also has become the one player opposing defenses have made sure to locate every time Massillon lines up offensively.

As the season has progressed, those defenses have done a variety of things to attempt to take Conley?s abilities ? especially on the deep pass ? away. And it has been met with varying degrees of success, at least when Conley?s numbers are counted.

Only twice this season has he not caught at least two passes in a game ? a one-catch effort in a one-half win at Maumee, and a no-catch performance in a game the Tigers really didn?t need him against Canadian foe Pauline Johnson Collegiate. He also has caught touchdowns in eight of Massillon?s 11 games to date.

?Obviously, Gareon attracts some attention ? a little bit,? offensive coordinator Badre Bardawil said this week as the Tigers prepare for Saturday?s Division I regional semifinal against McKinley at Kent State. ?It?s just a matter of, once again, being smart. Not being stubborn. Really, I try to identify how defenses are trying to take away what you do best and being patient and trying to find holes.?

Conley has 40 catches this season for 867 yards and 13 touchdowns. Five times he has gone more than 100 yards receiving in a game.

One of those games came in the regular-season showdown with McKinley at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. In that game, the senior had three catches for 106 yards, including a key 66-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

The thing about that performance was, Conley went into halftime without a catch.

?Gareon didn?t have a catch in the first half against McKinley,? Bardawil said. ?They did a lot of things to take him away. We?re not going to force the issue.?

It has been easy for the Tigers to do this season, both in the first meeting against McKinley as well as the other 10 games. That?s because of the depth Massillon possesses in its passing game, where there always seems to be one or two players open on every play.

While Conley has 40 catches, three other receivers ? Marcus Whitfield (28 catches), Zach Volzer (29), Brody Tonn (20) ? have at least 20 catches. Running backs Ernie Baez (12), Ryne Moore (nine) and Eric Copeland (eight) each have at least eight grabs, while receiver Beau Huffman has eight catches over the last six games.

?We have other good players,? Bardawil said. ?The great thing about it is Gareon knows that too. He?s not a selfish player. He knows I?ll find a way, at some point. That?s what ended up happening in the second half (against McKinley).?

Michigan verbal commitment Gareon Conley (Massillon, Oh./Washington) stated Saturday that he will visit Ohio State and Oregon.
?I?m going to do it,? he told ESPN. ?It?s still Oregon and Ohio State.?

As Wolverines fans know, players are not allowed to visit other schools after committing to Michigan. Any player who breaks that rule has their scholarship revoked. Expect Conley to lose his offer when he steps onto one of those campuses.

The 6-foot-1, 165-pound cornerback has flirted with this idea for a month, but now has officially confirmed the decision to visit other schools.
Conley?s high school team is still in the playoffs and he will not visit any schools until the season is over. He is expected to take visits this winter.
He has offers from Marshall, Northwestern and Ohio State. Oregon has not offered him yet.

He committed to Michigan Mar. 10.

Gareon Conley next Urban Meyer flip?

In the recruiting world, they call it flipping when one school has a recruit under its wing but by signing day that athlete commits to a different university.

As the days dwindle until national signing day, attention has turned to which players Urban Meyer and Co. might roll their way in an all-important 2013 recruiting class for Ohio State.

Some look at Tony Stevens (Orlando, Fla./Evans) or Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett). However, if odds were set, the most likely candidate is one most fans already know about.

Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) has made it no secret that he wants to take visits -- whether official or unofficial -- before giving Michigan his signature.

A longtime Wolverine pledge, the cornerback has said he chose Michigan because no other big-name schools were really after him.

The Wolverines were the only visit Conley took, but now that he has interest from schools including Oregon and Ohio State he wants to see what they?re all about, even if that means he is no longer committed to Michigan.
